While on my trip to Glacier, every once in a while, I would hit a bump that caused a ting sound from behind the cab. On my quest to figure out what it was, I went to grab my LED light to look under the truck and one was missing from my tool box. I knew I had been under the truck to check things out prior to the trip so I figured I had left it stuck to the frame or something. I was a little mad at myself because I figured it would be long gone by now. But! I found it stuck inside the spare tire. I had checked the air pressure on the spare the day before we headed out... hopefully it will still hold a charge.

Back to the ting ting noise. The only thing I could find that made the same noise was the helmholtz resonator on the Dirty Deeds Exhaust. I thought it was a little long when I installed it. The end of it was in between the bottom of the frame and the top of the driver side leaf spring. I removed it and cut about 6 inches off of it and rewelded it. Took if for a test drive, hit a few bumps and heard nothing so far. Hopefully that was the ticket....

Did you drop the spare when you checked the pressure? I've had it where when I drop it, then reinstall it, the chain that holds it sits slightly different and gives a little "ting ting" sound.

No, I was able to get to the valve stem without removing the spare.

    Edit to add:
I just did this in mine at 60k. I’m due for the 65k oil change now. It’s noticeably quieter. No observable difference in fuel economy as some have reported.

Been running 5w30 in the LX for the last 30k miles. We’re at 180k now. All good. Similarly quiet 3UR.

Used the rental truck to save my canopy before releasing my truck to insurance. Hopefully another week or two and this will all be wrapped up and I can start looking for a replacement Tundra

    Tastefully enhanced...
Just knocked out my front and rear differential fluid drain and refill...after about 40k miles, the rear looked dirty but was still fairly transparent...the mag plug was just dirty slime but no flakes...front was near brand new but I swapped it regardless...I checked the transfer case and it was looking mear new, too.

I used Ravenol 75w-85 for both ends...the shift to 4H and 4L are butter now...granted, nothing was "done" beyond a visual check on the transfer case...all in all, it only took an hour and a half!

New tires. Decided to go 1 size up. Toyo Open Country R/T in 275/65-20 Truck is raised on Bilstein 5100 top notch with Coachbuilder +2 shackles.
Had to remove the plastic wind deflector pieces on the front bumper. That was all that rubbed.
These tires are 4 ply. Cheaper and lighter.

Was trying to wait until I washed the truck to post the picture, but looks like rain the rest of the week.

Take off my topper? Can't! I hoped to have couple of my boys sitting there and paddling... Outboard can definitely go to the designated place, though. Till the next trooper at least.

    2020 DC , Limited 4x4 w/ 77K miles :

SO the new 2020 is in the shop for repairs. Bought it from carmax a month ago. I don't have 300miles on her yet.
carmax says they will MAKE SAFETY CORRECTION WITH-IN 90 days or 4000 miles.

SO my first 2 drives were to have the truck inspected by independent shops. the 1st shop did a quickie $90.oo
the second shop did a full inspection @$200.oo
the 2nd shop is With-In the carmax repair coverage plan....... what ever that is.
It's like having a doctors medical coverage - you go see your Dr. in the 'group service plan' or a specialists Outside the plan and pay xxx's times more.

In my case Carmax will cover the needed inspected work done by my 2nd shop.

What they found was Alignment washers were upside down. WHY?? we don't really know.
torn rubber boot, shudders when braking, radiator cap bad, torn plastic front wheel well plastic and a damaged rear bumper assembly pass side.

so ALL NEW front brakes and pads, new rear bumper, new cap, new plastic well covers, new alignment and boot.
    About $4300.oo They Pay For ! :rofl::bananadance::yes::mudding::goingcrazy::taco::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I'll pay for a brake flush of fluids and a transmission fluid change.

THIS LEADS ME to ask this question gents :: ::

what does a typical 4x4 tundra transmission service
    complete flush COST ???????

IS THERE ANY .... issues to change the fluid to a synthetic .. or
is all the new oils for tundras synthetic ?

next Q - is there any advantage to changing to Amsoil synthetic ?

I would not do a full flush. Just drain the pan, and refill every 30k miles. You'll get about ~5qt out. Measure and put back the same amount.

I got my truck from Carmax as well and it's not in as great of shape as I hoped. Brakes are very close to needing replacement, but just outside the thickness requirement, and the passenger seatbelt doesn't work. Something is also up with the steering rack; there's a low-pitched moan and a small clunk when changing direction. And the driveshafts need service/greasing.

How has your experience been with their 90-day/4k mile coverage plan? I did some digging and found a link on their website that locates "approved" third-party shops and am thinking of taking my truck to one for an inspection. Did they reimburse you the cost of inspection, or just for required repairs?

DON'T exceed either the 4K milage or 90 day limit before getting the truck inspected...... otherwise you forfeit all free safety work ...

Carmax is footing the bill on $4000.oo ++ to fix many items that when I had the truck inspected x2 by independent shops. They are fixing a rear bumper issue, ALL new front rotors and pads , rad cap, busted wheel well plastic. and some other minor things , full alignment because the 'discs' were upside down. they did install new tires b4 i bought it. they aren't std. but i should get 20+K out of them. .

my brake fluid moisture is 4+% and I'm paying to have the system flushed w/ new dot4 so things don't rust. and I live in the dry west.

    2% is normal

i had the inspections done days after i bought the truck SO AS NOT to void a 90 day 4000 mile rule
Did they reimburse you the cost of inspection,
    i didn't ask

    or just for required repairs

yes they will by weeks end

    ......

Ran the trash up to the dump and realized a bag of who knows what broke.... so, parked on the tree so I could rinse out the bed.

Yeah, that is it... next i just sprayed in odoban and then rinsed her off.

Couple 100$ through Toyota but it depends if they have to drop the pan to replace the gasket and the filter. Its definitely not cheap by no means.i would stick with the oem Toyota trans fluid.

Personally, I would not flush; do a drain and fill only and don't use any fluid other than the OE ATF WS....

Paid $275 for a full trans flush on our 5.7L Sequoia at an independent mechanic (Toyota Master).

All fluids should be synthetic...and I'm an Amsoil guy, but I'll say no there's no advantage > other syn brands except Amsoil says you can go up to 25k miles between oil change intervals. I only go 10k between Amsoil filters, but change the oil every 5k miles. There are several who use Amsoil in their diffs too.
