It looks better than my truck was when I drove it new from the dealer's lot in MA.

    Lol.

My last 4 Toyota truck skids were pulled when I did the 1 st oil changes.

They all went to the scrap yard.

They could have been turned into new skid plates for all I know.

    To me they useless.

I use Noxudol 700 in hard to reach areas. It is a sticky cavity wax that gets dirt and eventually moisture attracted to it. Wax eventually washes out or dries out (if left unattended for years) and lets the water to get in contact with the metal. I basically do the same like Bergy24 did, though with less attention to details, and it's only maybe 5% of the frame, in the bed and spare wheel areas. Everything else is covered in Noxudol 1600UM, which is a tar-like substance loaded with corrosion inhibitors and resisting to abrasion wear. Had to reapply it only after 4 years of New England life and occasional offroad. Cover everything with wax - eh, no.

None of that surprises me. I'm going to keep a skid plate but the more I think about it, it'd take me an hour or two to fab up a removable panel on the stock skid. I don't offroad with this truck so I don't need anything fancy or heavy. Cut a hole, weld a piece of flat stock across the part I cut out, drill two holes and install nutserts on both sides of the hole, bolt it in, done.

That would be your best option, I think. Aftermarket offroad skids are more narrow and allow debris flying up to the intermediate steering shaft. I had to replace one prematurely at ~45k miles only.

It's a really good skid plate. Basically the exact same thing as the TRD one. But if your eventually going to do a trans skid and cat shields, I'd go with the entire RCI package. Right now is the time to pull the trigger on that. They have an amazing deal going on right now. If I weren't tight for cash right now I'd do it over and get the RCI instead.

I'm not doing any of that stuff. This is a tow vehicle and daily driver. I've got other toys for off road abuse that cost a whole lot less than this and can sit on a trailer or in the shop if they break.

The thought of doing to a 35k truck what I do to my old k5 or even my rzr makes me sick.

Sounds like when I drove my 93 LandCruiser, they would line up to watch going up the center of the waterfall instead of the sides. Truly miss that ride
