What route did you decide to go for paint and primer? considered epoxy primer but not so easy to find in small town USA. I am going the self etching primer and rustoleum bedliner route based on others experience. From their accounts it is easier to touch up than powder coat or lineX. Normally I would powder coat but after seeing a couple of batches of powder coated bumpers from CBI rusting out in a matter of months I figured I would take it into my own hands.

also seeing the light bar brackets in your photo reminds me that I forgot to paint mine so I’ll take care of that today

I used rustoleum self etching primer and rustoleum professional enamel. It turned out good. Not completely perfect, but matches the rock sliders I coated the same way before.
Yes, I also forgot about the light bar mounts at first.
Powder coat can get scratched and then would be very difficult to fix, especially if water comes in. And I have rattle canned the sliders before, so the process was familiar to me.

My recommendation would be to follow the rustoleum instructions and let it sit for at least the specified amount of time before applying the next coat if doing multiple coats.

Ordered a RC 270* awning. Wasn’t planning on buying one but at $279.99 I couldn’t pass up.

Reinstalled my fox shocks following the factory 50k service. Can’t say I notice any improvement in ride so I think I’ll push the next service further out. Maybe look for a little fluid seeping as a sign that it’s time. They are night and day better than the oe shocks with 2” spacer that I rolled around on for three weeks.

Took the Tundra to get another truck that gets 12mpg because gas is so cheap in CA and its not like it will be a money pit or anything. :spending::D

I think they’re talking about peeling the black vinyl off between side windows. It’s painted factory color underneath.

The market seems to be falling fast around here. Three dealers only wanted to give 34k. New trucks are marked down substantially and it seems like they are starting to scale back inventory. Found a decent deal on a truck I liked and figured I better make a move. Interest rates keep going up too.

Installed the Rago Fabrication dash plate this weekend. Installed the ICS lower dash mount support plate along with it. The Rago's a nice piece, and the ICS support plate made it a pretty rigid install. What's really weird is the XM radio worked prior to the install, but after the installation I lost the XM radio. I suppose it has something to do with unplugging the radio completely for the install. Got all the plugs back in their rightful places. Guessing it has something to do with the power loss to the head unit resetting XM. All preset channels survived, but no sourse option for XM. How do I get the XM radio back (in a Gen 2.5 (2014))?

Also installed the 4 missing center caps on the Vision Black Manx II wheels. Prior owner of the truck either didn't care or didn't have good google-fu skills. After sifting for a while through Vision's website to get the part number, I sourced the caps through Summit Racing. Wheels finally look proper.

A few weeks ago I installed the driver side grab handle. Easy-pezy.

Also picked up a "new to me" Black Widow 10 foot 3-Piece Arched Folding Motorcycle Ramp. Now I can take the race bike down for tuning or a quick trackday without having to go through the hassle of hookuping and taking the race trailer.

Next up is the the 2019+ TRD Pro black headlights with the iHacker harness. I've had the parts for about a month now, but just no time to do the install.

After that, I need to order up some Diode Dynamics fog lights. I'm still trying to decide between the Pro or the Max in amber.

Looks good. If you notice any creaks or pops, you may want to add some rubber between the metal to metal points, such as skid plate to skid plate and skid plate to frame. I had some noises and adding the rubber fixed it.

IMO not worth it. This is how much was trapped in 3k miles of strictly city driving on a 220k miles 2.5l TURBO engine (lot more blow-by). It also restricts PCV vacuum flow a lot, and may completely freeze in winter.

Depends on the engine. My GM 3.6 could have used one of these big time. Always oil pooled in the intake of that thing when I cleaned it.

If you unplugged all the radio connections make sure you didn't flip the xm antenna and the gps antenna when plugging everything back in. The connectors are the same. I believe one is white and the other is black if I recall correctly.

Awe, nutz! Didn't think I mixed anything up, but I must have. When doing an install, I usually take a picture of all plugs in their proper place. Not this time, just did it from memory.
