Anyone have photo's of where these get installed?

    Thanks

    Oh, and today I;

Finally got around to installing the door sill protectors......I can't understand why Toyota would leave that area as bare paint and let it get all scratched up.
I also did the rear seat mod to my DC so I could get the storage behind the seats.

    Cheers

Had a little tire poke after I mounted my 285/75R18s on 18x9 +18 wheels, nothing major but still a fair amount of rubber peeking out from the wheel wells. Figured I would see how they fared before doing anything. Well it didn’t take long to have all sorts of stuff flying up the side of the cab and box from the tires.
Picked up a set of Tyger fender flares which are basically the same thing as the Bushwhacker flares but way cheaper, and the Bushwacker black stainless hardware kit. Was just going to mount them as is but at the last minute decided to paint them to give them extra protection against scratches. I used Rustoleum Custom Premium Lacquer in Matte black and then a Gloss clear coat. Followed the advice of others and put down some paint protection film underneath where the rubber gasket touches the body to prevent scratching the paint all to hell. Install was pretty straight forward. Fender flares aren’t usually my thing, always seem to be another spot to gather rust, but I don’t feel like destroying the paint during the winter so we will see if they eventually grow on me. These Tyger flares were very high quality and fit the body contours just about perfect.

It replaces the one that is on the back of the center console for the CrewMax. I have a DC but I have the CrewMax panel and vents because I recently added the rear air conditioning.

Old mod, but had to remount since the old extinguisher was borrowed from me and never returned. Simple mount was included, and just bolts and nuts with fender washers for rigidity.

    Nice work

I'm curious to see how they do under load; only because when you buy a topper w/rails they allegedly are reinforced to handle more weight. Any idea what the load ratings are suppose to be both static and dynamic???

Really great points you made there, here are my thoughts on the matter, as you can imagine I have put a lot of thought into it before drilling into my otherwise very nice cap & truck.

    1. All of the cap/topper track systems (like Thule, Yakima & rhino rack) have the same instructions and cautions, which say things like “install the tracks as far outward/towards the edge as possible & be sure it is installed over the reinforced sections of the shell”. I installed mine as far out as possible & mine are clearly installed in the extra thick reinforced section of the roof (the t nuts barely are long enough for this section, it’s thicker and reinforced).
    2. Everyone and their mom has a RTT on a rack on their shell, 90% of these guys also have heavy tents and additional attachments like awnings and water ports and hi lifts and recovery crap. Etc.
    3. I’m planning a lightweight RTT & I would never have more than just me and my wife or just me in the tent, the IO tent only weighs 87lbs.
    4. I believe my LEER cap is rated for around 300lbs static and less dynamic load but either way I will be keeping an eye on the shell. If I start to see stress cracks I know I’ll need to ditch the RTT and just keep cross bars up there for normal loads.
    5. I’m thinking it would be pretty easy to reinforce the shell if for some reason I wanted to. Some solid wood supports out of the way, up at an angle in the front corners would be easy & should do the trick. If it becomes just too much of a problem I’ll put my 2 boys in the RTT and I’ll sleep in my cozy bed which I’m building out anyway.

Wanted to replace some hardware on my suspension and coil tower brace due to improper shanking and some were black oxide coated/rusty.:puke: Almost everything other than the bolt on parts added to the truck already uses grade 9 hardware, so :spending: 12 point/grade 9 hardware for all suspension bolts. Going to be shanking/cutting bolts for awhile.

First order of bolts, nuts, and washers arrived today.

    IMG_3018.jpg

Ordered these from @memario1214 before they were available. Hoping they will work well for me, Icon has the same but with a longer foam bump for 22+. Can’t run DuroBumps etc. because the rebound gets out of control at higher speeds off-road.
