I have a website that auctions off secondhand items (usually Amazon items) that were returned. You’re allowed to go look before you bid. I found a cat shield that I ended up paying $5.81 for. Downside, there’s a big ass dolphin cut out and I think the corners are bent down some (I can bend back). Upside, all hardware is there and $5.81 is a lot cheaper than replacing cats. Just need to install now.

You can always cut a different shape into the center. For 5.81 you have a lot of wiggle room to customize

Yeah I was thinking about options I can do with it. I don't have a welder or anything like that but I could at least cut it into a rectangle. Or just pretend I'm a miami dolphins fan :anonymous:

Or throw up a Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy quote and call it a day. I'm sure anything from that book would confuse the heck out of anyone under your vehicle

Well, I discovered a different issue after forcing the water or winching through the mud: it is hard to fill up the tank at the gas pump now. The pump cuts off unless the flow is kept very slow. Need to crouch under the truck and check the charcoal canister's vent. Or maybe it is half full of water, need to take it out, drain and dry up then. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo: there was a spider net in the vent, and a spider died apparently being high up ;)

Probably a good idea to relocate the canister's vent as well.

    Picked up this 2021 in March. First upgrades completed today;

Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 275/70/18 - Perfect size imo for the actual type of off roading I do. Not a fan of wheel poke.
    Bilstein 5100 all around
    A.R.E Overland cap

Only drove it home from the off road shop and haven’t had a chance to really look it over but a quick look and the A.R.E Overland cap looks like it’s missing a rivet piece and one of the side windows has some pretty rough finishing.

Most everyone has tire favorites. Mine are Super Swampers but since I’m in my 40's now and not a teenager driving my dads 1979 Jimmy, I went with something that I have no experience with but will get me safely to Wegmans and home…don’t see much on these Yokos here but I’ve seen these absolutely be abused and still slay off road and snow after 30k miles.

Yes, I can easily feel the weight difference and they are way louder compared to the Yoko A/Ts.

If anyone lives close to Rochester NY area and wants the Bilstein 4600’s I took off for free let me know.

Looking forward to taking the rig and seeing how it does in the bush up in northern Ontario on a fishing trip in a few weeks.

Had my tint put on today. I got my 17 SR5 about a month ago. Didn’t go ceramic like my little commuter car, can’t tell the difference really tbh. Feels good to be back in the tundra world. I had a 21 limited double cab in cavalry blue and frequently posted all my mods about a year ago. Pic is my current little stable lol. Sorry if it’s not allowed - My ES300 is a 1999 with only 64k miles.

P.S. - Morimoto xb’s in amber getting delivered tomorrow for the truck

Thanks! The gears are turning for how I wanna go about that lol. I found a Tacoma forum post where some guys with quicksand used an off-the-shelf can of Rustoleum in “Gloss Khaki” that is a very passable match. I bought a few for $6 vs actual factory paint code cans. I don’t think I’ll do the $800 sparksparts grill here unless the home job turns out horrible. I’ll pass on the ecoological shells too (at least on the grill).

I always bought my paint from automotivetouchup.com. They were an exact match. Yeah I am not font of the shells either.

I really like the way it looks. I was thinking about going to 20's to fit larger brakes because my truck is primarily used for towing. But now I'm thinking better brakes on the trailer would do the same thing...

Leer caps are also meh in terms of workmanship. The press form part is fine, everything else could be better. Cheap hardware, poor quality of work. I'm only glad I got it just before the COVID hit and all the prices skyrocketed.

Great looking truck. From experience, get ready for bang up those predator steps while offroading lol. I dont do anything hardcore either, offroad wise, but those things are just a terrible design for offroad.
