Late to the party with both, but installed TRD Pro Skid Plate and Talon's Garage steel cat shield on my 2019 CrewMax.

The nut plate sold by @Talon2006 made it a much easier task than without. I can see how many complained about it.

IMG_2109.jpg After reading all the horror stories about months long backlog on OEM CATs and issues with non-OEM CATs, I decided to buy some protection. Taking the easy way out, I ordered the aluminum Miller front and rear set from my local dealer and had them install it. Seems like a pretty solid product. :)

I'm pretty sure that it is illegal to do any modification to a license plate....Hopefully you don't get pulled over.

Yeah.... whatever; blah, blah, blah ;) (just kidding)

Bro, that thing looks freakin' :muscleflexing:

I've got to say, the cover on the opening w/the words "remove" had me laughing though... Kinda

So, when our mechanics would send out the RR engines that went into our MD 500s for full factory rebuilds, they'd come back w/a cover over the opening that would also say "remove"... as if someone would be so careless to install the engine w/o remove it!! Well....

Our unit had been operating w/a head mechanic for over 30 years (good solid dude w/crazy attention to detail) and he had a couple of apprentices that worked under him (also good folks we trusted)... Anyhow, he was in the process of working toward scheduling his retirement, so they hired a dude to start working on taking over as the #2 guy when the apprentice took over. Mind you this guy had considerable experience working on other platforms in a civilian setting and was supposedly highly skilled; just needed to get up to speed on the MDs. Anyhow, dude had been there only a few weeks and had already pulled a couple of bonehead attention to detail issues and was apparently on his last chance.

Well, one day we end up jumping in a bird that had an engine swap done the day before. It warms up, we start to lift off, get about 30' in the air, and POW; loud pop and it drops about 20'; PIC rolls it off and sets us down (a bit harshly); he said he thought it kinda sounded and felt like a compressor stall (but not quite); we get it on the cart and roll it back into the hangar; they pull the engine and find the engine cover shredded and sucked up into places it obviously shouldn't be ... apparently the cover got left on when the new engine was installed!!!!

The new dude is terminated and gone the next day. I wasn't privy to the entire investigation and how the whole thing played out, but apparently whoever had oversight of the new dude the day before (not the guy retiring) wasn't watching as the engine was bolted up and once it was all together the cover was undetectable. Freakin' dipshit could've killed us

Anyhow, sorry for the dissertation, but the morale of that story is there's always a reason for the seemingly stupid warnings/labels that we shake our heads about or laugh a little at. Someone, some where, at some point pulled a bone head move and %$#'d some shit up!!!!

I’m with you, I put the metal one on mine and it seeped very slightly with two different brand new o-rings. Put the plastic one back on, no seepage . Don’t know if I got a bad one , it looks fine, but it was always a little wet.

I'm guessing your state has these for sale and you didn't modify it yourself?

    TX offers them too.

It's all good. It must be a new thing lol. Technically license plate frames are illegal here but they don't bother with it.

There is a lot they do not bother with here as well. There is no frame on this plate. It is a black “historical plate” for which you contribute $25 to the historical society. Many years ago Utah had plates like these. A few years back they approved bringing them back but they had difficulty figuring out how to make them.

Wow does your story hit close to home. I drive tractor trailer and my company’s fleet finally got a batch of new trucks. When our mechanics took them on a road test as part of their in-servicing almost every single one of them started overheating. After towing each one of them back to the dealership they found the problem. Someone must’ve been on their first day of work when our trucks were made because the inlet side of the water pumps all still had the plastic plug inside them. Four trucks, 3 of them still had the plug on the inlet. Amazingly the one truck that didn’t was the truck that pulled the other three piggy back style from the factory and when they checked that one they found the plastic plug all chewed up inside the impeller so it got a new water pump, the other three just had the plug pulled out and have been fine since.

But why is it in quotation marks. I don't think it means what they think it means. Yes, you need to "remove" this.

    I'm "not jealous".

Do you have to donate the $25 annually?

Made it do truck stuff so I could have fun. Lots of broverlanders here today of the Toyota and Lexus variety. Lots of money to just stick to bypasses and park roads.
