I changed the front diff. fluid and rotated the tires. Getting the drain and fill plugs out was a lot easier than I anticipated, after reading some horror stories of stripped allen sockets on here.

My truck has 31,000 miles and I was surprised how dirty it was. I barely use 4wd.

Ran into this last week, glad I ordered some touch up paint. Did Toyota use some weak/soft clearcoat?

Ordered the bronze version of the cap today, glad to see they look good on the 304’s. Our setups are gonna be pretty similar so I appreciate the look to the future.

Regarding the fender bender insurance claim: I’m accepting a cash out from Nationwide. @RainMan_PNW I thought the metal frame under the bumper cap would have been bent up as well, but it checked out as fine. Nothing is as crooked as I thought (I think I was hyper-aware of any possible misalignment).
Also about to hit 44k miles. Probably next week. :headbang:
Saw your parts FS thread. I think that is the first pic I’ve ever seen of your truck on the forum. You had a pretty great build going there. If we were closer, I’d probably take the ARE and the Decked system.

What are you moving on to?

Thanks. It was a good truck. I got a 23 GMC 2500 AT4. Here is the old truck with some stuff that I didn’t have time to pull off. I guess these guys bought it at auction. The place I traded it in said they didn’t want it.

Woah! That is only a couple grand less than I paid new for my '21 SR5 TRD Off Road.

Did you go diesel or gasser? I like the AT4 HD. I know a few songwriters in town who drive those with the Duramax. If I ever need more truck, it's a strong contender.

I got the gas. There was a diesel 3500 AT4 on their lot that was nice, but it was $10k more. Mine has the same GVWR as the 3500 so there wasn’t a reason to get it. I don’t tow anything heavy and my payload is only 300 lb less than the diesel.

I paid $42k for the Tundra in Mar 18. Got $37k for it in Mar 23, so it cost me $1k a year. Now they have it listed for $43k. More than I paid new.

My grill surround was chrome. I had a buddy who paints cars for a living paint it. It has 3 layers of clear, so I dont thing it was weak paint issue. The chips appeared after a highway trip. Guessing a dump ttuck or something dropping stones. :notsure:

The touchup paint wasn't a perfect match, but after it set, I clayed the whole truck then applied Griots 3n1 ceramic (super forgiving and shines up nice if you prep well). After a hand buff you have to look to see them, so I'm happier.

Good deal. I've read others on here talk about paint quality issues when comparing Toyota to other brands, wondered if that's what you were referring to.

Painted chrome will eventually chip regardless if it's from rocks or not.

Its not like he threw paint on chrome. The chrome was sanded very well, then high quality self etching primer applied, then baked, then 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of high quality clear with a proper bake between each coat and the final coat. I'm guessing a non-chrome oem part would have done the same.

@OHwendTrd the factory Toyota paint is super thin, and not super durable. I have a minor chip on my hood too. Truck has less than 7500 miles on it.

Not doubting that at all. It's just something in the material during the chrome plating process that the paint doesn't like.

My sparks grill surround painted in silver sky chipped bad, had to get repainted and then made sure to ppf ! Headlights, grill surround and hood is a must for ppf imo ..also will aid in keeping the headlights lens clear.

Some dealers are just nuts. My 2020 SR5 DC was right at $40K out the door. I've seen really high prices on the 4Runners as well.
