What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

It was $250 (Cdn). They custom fab’d the Y pipe and then added in stainless pipe where needed.

 

These are adjustable headrest you can find on Amazon. They are great for the kids and adults on long trips when they sleeping. Keeps them from leaning sideway over the seat belt. Safety and convenient. Hope this helps.

 

Yes. These are still power fold mirrors and will work with your control knob from inside the truck. The small mirror is manual only.

 

Seriously? When I bought the truck back in 2019, I asked the dealership parts guy, if I can swap out the mirror for a turn signal mirror like the ones on the Platinum, he said it's not compatible if the truck didn't come equipped with it. I would think the parts department would know. Can anyone on the forum, tell me otherwise. Would appreciate. Thanks.

 

Confirmed. My SR5 mirrors had no turn signals but both the Trail Ridge and Boost Auto power mirrors have built in signals and were operational when I installed the mirrors.

 

From the looks of it, the only wires behind the mirror is the BSM plug, and two plugs for the defroster. I don't see any other wires that would indicate as a source for the turn signal. Unless it's build in the BSM plug to be setup that way. Anyone swap out for the turn signal mirror? And let me know how it works. Would appreciate it. Thanks.

 

Good to know, but did you have to wire and tap into the signal lights? I saw a video on youtube, it had to be tapped in, for the Boost Auto power mirrors to work. The mirrors are built that way, but for turn signal to function, it had to be tapped in. Let me know if this is false. Thanks.

 

The wire you're talking about is most likely the long white wire that powers the reverse lights on those mirrors. No I didn't have to do anything special to "activate" my turn signals. The harness on the truck already has the power running to the mirrors but the mirrors from the factory, on lower trim levels, do not have a corresponding wired terminal since the mirrors are sans signals.

 

You're right. That is the feature for the reverse light function. I will look into the OEM mirror, since it's plug and play. Appreciate the knowledge and help. Thanks.

 

OEM tow mirror? The Boost Auto option is also PnP as long as you stay away from the power fold conversion (unless your truck came with it).

 

No power fold mirror on my truck. I was actually looking at the OEM mirror only, but no luck. I believe I would have to replace the whole assembly, so only option will be aftermarket. Auto Boost tow mirrors will be on my checklist, but will have to wait for now. Thanks for all the info.

 

Tons of posts on this forum with guys buying mirrors with turn signals and they instantly worked.

There are some issues with cheap 3rd party mirrors because sometimes their harness connector isn't pinned correctly so they have to switch some pins and then it works. Multiple threads on this too.

Picked up my CO2 tank from getting recharged and installed the new battery. It’s been about 3 years, but figured time to swap it out. Went with X2power group 34 and the Rago Fab group 34 box.

Battery had opposite terminals, so had to get new battery terminals, then the wires were too short, so had to get new wires, then the j hooks were also too long from the group 27f battery so had to get new j hooks too.

All in all, works perfectly. Also have the NOCO genius 10 to do a monthly full recharge on the battery.

On the Spotter mirrors, what tabs broke? I've been looking at these too.

 

Spotter mirrors are great, love mine! I have the turn signals version. Wasn't too bad, no need to pull door panels, just the sail and mirror itself to route/extend the wiring easier. I didn't break any tabs but can see how it could happen if not too careful, to pop out the existing mirror. I just used a wide/flat prior tool to pop it.

 

Question on the Spotter mirrors: should I be able to swap out my mirrors, which don't have turn signals currently, on my 2021 Limited for these (2007-2021 Toyota Tundra Adjustable Spotter Mirror) and end with turn signal mirrors? Not sure what my wiring is but from the sounds of it all the parts and pieces should be there.

When you get to the Tundra page, scroll down to installation. When the glass is taken off, you can see the black plastic circle mount. When I took mine off, the whole piece came out along with the mirror. The tabs look like a L shape upside down. Maybe I did it wrong, but the mirror did not pry out so I had to use a screw driver to separate the mirror from the plastic mount. That’s how I broke the tabs. I had to use a screwdriver to separate it, but be careful you might break the mirror. I added some double sided adhesive tape to keep it from vibrating and loose. After that, I was able to mount it back onto the truck. Hope this helps. You’ll like this upgrade. Good luck on the build.

 

Good question. From their website, you can get the mirror with the turn signal and defroster. But your wire plug must have enough slot to fit the pins. Might have to configure it to make it fit. If you look at the website photo, you’ll see it’s all wired up for turn signal and defroster. (Green plug). But if your truck has BSM, the computer might detect it and raise a flag. Don’t quote me on that, but just thinking the BSM sensor might not work. Somehow, you can’t have all three, defroster, BSM, and turn signal due to the design of having the blind spot mirror. Only can you have all three features if going OEM. Good luck on your build.

 

I gotcha, I don't have BSM, I just have plain old reflective mirrors (with power adjust) on a Limited trim truck.
