Here's a story: Exactly a year ago, truck was rear ended while parked. Fair bit of body damage, but frame was 100%. Took the shop 3 months to source all the parts and complete repairs - all new components and panels, no bondo. They day before I was to pick it up, some scumbag broke into the locked compound where it was waiting and stole the driver's side cat. As many here know, no cats at all in the supply chain. Body shop rents me a Tahoe (their cost - $13,600) for nine months...

In September, asked Toyota whether we could install aftermarket cats. Nope, would 'void the warranty'. Late February: Toyota relents, says install aftermarket cats; we will install the OEM ones for free when they get in. Aftermarket cats were installed Feb. 28. Car runs fine, no codes; I even put on the cat covers that were sitting in the shop for a year. Got a call today saying the OEM cats are in, 10 days after installing the aftermarket one!

I've gotta say that I was treated VERY well by all parties. Most importantly, I'm driving my Tundra again, and boy is it nice!

Had LineX spray the roof today. Previous owner neglected it and I didn’t want to worry about it down the road, problem solved.

What was the issue on the roof? Pretty darn new truck being a 2020.

Didn’t even notice that. I was thinking more like paint peeling or something bad.

They did. Just got the word a few days ago. I’m bummed because I loved that truck but it saved my ass from any injury, so it did it’s job.
Appreciate it. Could’ve been worse, so I’m thankful no one was hurt. Now to wait for the payout and hopefully find another good 2.5 Gen.

Funny, I didn’t even notice the dent myself until after I took the picture earlier today.

As far as what issues I did see, I suspect the roof was not washed/waxed regularly. Totally get it, especially with the roof rack. I battle it on my 80 Series & Prinsu rack, but stay on top of that one. There was little rust spots starting to appear on the Tundra, more than I initially thought after hitting it with a pressure washer. Certainly not alarming level, but living in a condo a ~1/2 mile from salty water and parking under pine and oak trees that leak sap 9 months out of the year, it would have only gotten worse over time.

Still in process, but it starts with this kit:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NKJ8KPJ

The Qi charger in this kit is a separate “universal” charger that uses Scosche’s “magic mount” magnets (before MagSafe existed), and it’s only got a 10W rating (vs MagSafe 15W if using the official Apple charger).

So instead of the power adapter that comes with it, I’m using one of these as the power supply
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0918CR35N

And adapting the USB-C to USB-A using this
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079LYHNSR

finally, the insert to adapt the MagSafe charger into the spot that the Qi charger normally fits into I’m 3D printing using CPE+ material

Your idea was perfect and I'm grateful you shared it to me! I WILL move the gauge to the center stack, to the right of the steering wheel as it will likely not show so much glare and keep my eyes closer to the road ahead...regardless, muuuuch easier than I was thinking it would be!

of course. I went with the Icon Stage 2 with AAL. Went up 2.5 in the front and up 2 in the back. I asked the shop to just get the rear up to level, but they didn’t listen (they did this for free so I can’t complain). After seeing it with a little rake, still, I like it and will keep that setup for now.

wheels are method 17x8.5 MR701 in the MT Bronze

Tires are the Falken Wildpeak AT3 in 35/12.5/r17

super simple. All told, these were about $3,800 shipped and with the free install, I really managed to save some money.

had to remove the front mudflaps and do a little chopping of the front plastic, but they’re on and look great. This color combo has been a dream of mine since Toyota first game out with the army green and here I am, years later. Love it

They fired it up every day to drive it out of the shop and onto the lot; returned it every night. They were being very careful NOTHING else happened to it while in their care... No signs of rodents - the first thing I checked!

Interesting. It’s a 2020 and you say they neglected it. What does that mean and how can you tell on such a new truck?

I see a fairly decent dent up there, so I'm going to wager there were paint scratches all around. LineX would be certainly cheaper than bondo and a paintjob, some people prefer the blackened roof/hood aesthetic, and I see roof rack mounts so it's likely to be more durable too, I bet!
