My "hotwire" is on a fused power block near the battery for now. The wire is inside wire loom in the driverside frame rail front to back. The power block is also temporary until I can figure out a more permanent solution I like.

I know a lot of folks are attaching to the fuse panel lid, but it just doesn't sit well with me, so for now things are "secured".

I ran mine to the license plate light and I have a switch that fits the factory hole in the bed. I have to turn my parking lights on for power so I know that they will never get left on.

Any idea where the leaves are getting in from? I have had the same problem and want to get it fixed. I'm sure that area would rust out sooner than the rest of the truck.

Im not sure, I havent looked into it yet. But I could see it becoming a problem with that much organic build up. Im assuming they fall in between the hood and windshield, I do see leaves in the back right corner of the engine bay when I pop my hood. I plan on checking it out this weekend.

Ive said this a dozen times but I guess it gets lost in the fray but if you put a pad of some sort on the arm rest charger it will work

Stick a shop vac nozzle in there to suck out the rest of the leaves. If they are wet or get wet, they will promote rust in the door.

What i couldnt get to was around the right edge, going into the cab. I wont be able to get a shop vac over there. Im thinking I need figure out how to get compressed air behind the organics or a power washer to blow the rest out. I agree rust could become a problem.

Rotated the tires today. While off, washed and waxed both sides of the wheels. Also, while I had the wheels off, I cleaned where I usually can’t get too very well. Good ole tooth brush and simple green do wonders! Calipers look nearly new! I wired brushed around the hubs on all four wheels too. The first picture was before I did that.

Followed up with under coating with a small paint brush. The welds that were starting to show shiny metal under the factory coating. To prevent any sort of rusting, I hit them with Rust-Oleum under coating. Figured while I had the stuff and brush out, I hit all the welds on the rear end. This stuff really matches the factory coating well!

Healed some finest New England rust in frame's welds. Rust cancer was there from factory, hidden by a layer of paint.

Also rotated tires and made sure tire fuses are still in place (they stop spinning once the fuse is gone, right?)

Cross posting here in case it gets buried (the search bar will fox that )

Figured I’d post this here for folks who have or are looking for a Diamondback HD cover and would like some type of rack for (fun) purposes.

The UpTop Overland Diamondback Truss Bed Rack is a great option as you won’t have to do ANY DRILLING for the rack on your cover, they utilize the existing cleats on the HD as their mount points. It also has a Dynamic load rating of 300lbs and Static load rating of 1100lbs. I couldn’t find that info on their page so I just got that from emails with them. That’s a big plus for me as I just didn’t really like the thought of having to drill into the cover for the existing rack or crossbar applications (front runner, Yakima, etc..) and also having a great load rating for RTTs since that’s why I’m interested. Also just to be clear this is only for the HD version, not SE as well as assuming you had Diamondback preinstall your cleats for you at manufacturing, otherwise you’ll have to get the rack and then put your cleats on since their mount points are based on where Diamondback installs them.

I also have no affiliation with UpTop, just was doing a ton of research for my setup I’m looking for and just didn’t want to drill into the cover or also sacrifice potential leak points for having rack adapters go under the factory DB seals

With that all being said, today the order will go in :D

Oh trust me I’ve read just about every post there is “in the fray” on this issue including your “dozen”…no dice, indicator goes to red within a few secs of laying down, even using padding, removing the case, etc. Worked fine with my iPhone XS Max, and still works with my wife’s iPhone SE with a case, so it’s not the charger.

How about opening the hood and using a blower to push the leaves down to the opening?

Be careful here. Spend too much time and you’ll have new suspension…. And tires…. And wheels… and seats….and stereo…. And bed cover….. and next thing you know you’ve spent $10k.
