What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

ceramic ? does it keep a lot of the heat out ? picture please

Well I’ve only had it for a week so I couldn’t honestly say

 

Yes it's ceramic. It does help. It helps with some of the glare as well. The rest of my windows are 5%. The wife's 4R is 50% also and 15% on the rest. I'll have to get better pics of it.

 

Honestly kind of wish I would have done 5% on the sides again. But, backing a boat down a pitch black ramp, at 2am, with a truck wrapped in 5%, is like going full Ray Charles. Don’t ever go full Ray Charles.

 

A sad day today as my 2020 platinum leaves to find a new home. Sold my truck back to Toyota of Rock Hill in South Carolina today for more than I paid for it. Only had 12k miles on it so if you are looking for a black platinum 4x4 then hit them up. Had to sell the truck to buy a Dodge 2500 diesel to pull our horse trailer. For the time I had the truck it has been the best gas truck I have ever owned. My only real gripe is the JBL sound system is trash and lose the chrome in the interior. Thank you to all that post here and share your passion. From tips and tricks to product reviews this site makes all tundra owners feel welcome.

 

Swap back to stock headlights before you sold it? Those XBs are expensive.

Got the full weathertech Sunshade set today. Overall pretty satisfied with the coverage on the windows. The front window does bow a little in the center because of the mirror/sensor area, but the sides and rest are nice and tight. The rest of the doors and rear window are awesome, fit so snug. Silver side for reflection, and black side is suppose to be for the cold to trap heat.

It’s been averaging 105-112 lately, so anything will help, worse case scenario if I don’t see a temp diff, at least it’ll help prolong the life of the interior since the truck lives outside full time in direct sun.

 

Interested to see how the interior temp is affected.

your truck looks awesome, I want tint on the windshield but not sure how long I’d make it out here California without getting a ticket. I wonder if I have a sun shade in the window while it’s parked if you can tell it’s tinted, at least I could minimize getting a ticket in the parking lot.

 

Lighting is a bit off because it was dusk when I took the picture, but this is 70% front windshield tint with a sun shade.

But some info for you, with ceramic tint, % does not change heat rejection or uv protection, 90% would still reject the same as 30% etc. So making it darker on the front windshield would be more appearance, it would allow less sun on you, but if the uv and heat is being rejected you wouldn’t notice a difference. So being California you could do 90% or 70% to get the benefits with little to no appearance difference.

 

Good to know, looks like I’ll probably go with 10%. Mainly looking for protection on the interior. And you can’t tell at all with 70% and sunshade. Thanks for the help

 

It goes on a reverse scale, 90% is nearly clear to the eye, 10% would be almost black.
