Sorry for the delayed reply, I'm here daily and not sure how I missed it. I washed with Meguire's, and also user decontamination spray. I used a synthetic clay bar from Mothers and am pretty happy with the results. Wax was a Turtle Wax hybrid, and I will throw some Bead Maker on top of it this weekend. Good tip Ion not having to dry, I was not aware of that.

Odd question for the group, and I have already scoured the creaking TRD skid plate forums. Thought I would post here because of the vast expertise, and I enjoy the group. I put some shims in the rear of my TRD skid plate, and tightened the bolts a couple of weeks ago, only to have the creak come back. I tightened them again last night, and was worried I was over tightening. I did use a torque wrench from Harbor Freight, but just not sure it is working as I was pulling that thing awfully hard, and never got to click at 38 pound feet. Is that torque setting an absolute beast, or am I over-tightening the hell out of this thing? Thanks in advance.

Great spot for everything related to this stuff - https://www.tundras.com/forums/detailing.66/

Ive been putting a decon off and your post was a small jolt to get me back around to doing it. Just being lazy about familiarizing myself with that whole process/products for ceramic coated cars.

I got mine ceramic coated a year ago and regulary use wax free and perfume free car wash and then use beadmaker in conjunction with wiping down with a microfiber towel.

:muscleflexing: I certainly miss the 6.5' bed my last truck had, but I can make it work. The interior size of the crew cab? Irreplaceable!

I got some "stuff" the other day. All I need to do now is figure out which wheels I want to get and order them. 35's here I come.

38lbft isn't that much. You sure it's the skid? Uni-ball UCA's, if you have them, your anti-sway bar, and your steering linkages may need a lube. If your previous effort really did quiet the noise, that does lead one to believe you're in the right place; but if it never really caused a squeak to go away, it might do to look elsewhere. Not being a salesman here, but if you've narrowed it down to the skid and you just can't get it to quit squeaking, I'll suggest Valhalla's.

@1794TX - thanks for the reply.., definitely the skid.. , but good idea lubricating the undercarriage while in the area..
Not being dopey, maybe I will pick up a new torque wrench and hit the bolts again for good measure.
Noise indeed gone again this morning, so feel pretty good about the bogey. Thanks again, appreciate the confirmation.

You also might think of putting nylon washers between the areas that might rub. Just a thought.

a few threads on this, but ultimately most have to put something in-between where the skid meets the truck. I had to do it. fixed it for me. I just cut old bicycle tubing into little squares and cut holes in the middle for the bolt to pass through. Good luck.

Good deal. Fingers crossed they last with no issues. I will keep my OEM switch in truck with me just in case. My luck it quits working in a rainstorm. :(

Works great - been slumming with auto down on drivers only for 3 1/2 years lol. Love the way all the buttons light up as well, should have come like this from Toyota but the switch feels just as quality as OEM if not better.

Refinished the Mammoth Guards and trimmed them since the UCAs were hitting them at full droop. Freshened up the UCAs with paint and clear. I made my own uppers and rears since i was gifted the front pieces, using molded plexiglass.
Huge thanks to @RobertD for the design ideas.

this weekend - If you feel a large disturbance in the force & suddenly all the cuss words are used up....that's because I'll be doing a drain & fill on the trans.
