You could probably sand it, mask everything off, and then spray it to blend it in.

Hahaha… I know they do… and I liked my Toytec shackles (red).. but they would have put my rear end up like 4.5” to 5”…. No… have no issues at all with my leafs.. and I make no claim to knowing wether or not Alcan shackles make a difference or not.. I just figured going his(Lews) shackles I would have more recourse if there was a problem…And they are almost identical to OEM… The rear shackles were torqued to 60 If remember right and they move freely with no binding… Only a week with them and haven’t towed with them so keeping my fingers crossed that nothin develops… And by the way… Thank you for all your posts over in the ‘Suspension’ section.. they helped a lot..

Others will offer some input too but I'm thinking like 800? You really are just sanding it enough to take the rough edges out before spraying. @BlueRibbon4x4 has alot of painting experience....maybe he can help.

Don’t move to Pennsytuckie, $4.76 per gallon which includes the $.58 per gallon you have to pay towards taxes. You would think “wow, these roads are really smooth in Pennsylvania” then you realized you crossed the Maryland line.

@Jbehredt is correct. The 220 to smooth out the rough edge from the gash, and 400 to get rid of the sanding scratches. 600 for smoothness. What paint did you use?

Ok. Sometimes that stuff can be a little rubbery when trying to sand it, like latex. You may have to let it cure for a while before it’s tough enough to sand.

Good to know. I may just go ahead and mount it then, and mask off and spray on the truck like someone suggested. At least that way I can start using it again and spray it when I have time.

Plus it will give me practice for when I have to do this again from banging into rocks lol

Quick test cut with some matte red that I had. I have to increase the height about 1/8 of an inch and the size should be pretty close.

Also put in the 8600NEX, much better than the 4660 (just too small). Happy with how it is now, planning on taking out the trim and fitting it flush to the dash when I have more time to mess with it. 8095AAC7-0002-4142-92C9-58AB11EAA4BD.jpgA17CBF61-2905-431C-A20F-AA15ABC1190A.jpg

I’d sand, mask, and touch up in place after mounting. Then go :mudding:and give it a couple new scratches and get on with life. But that’s me. :p

Pulled the trigger on a set of the Bushwacker painted fender flares. REALTRUCK has them on sale right now. Was $800.00 now $640.00 with free shipping. These are the paint to match fender flares. I ordered the MGM 1G3 paint code. Ordered the clear installation tape too to protect the paint. Also ordered the hood scoop and the MGM primer/paint/clear. Have a little experience with spraying so I’m going to give it a try and paint it myself. I’ll post a few before and after pics when I get it done.

Finally made some rear mud guards for the inner fenders. I had some Mammoth guards for the front, and had to make the two pieces from plexiglass, so I decided to make some rears. I used cardboard as a template, and traced it onto plexiglass. Then used a heat gun to bend the plexiglass into place. I used the existing wheel well fasteners. Painted to match the fronts using self etching primer, Rustoleum 2X metallic cobalt blue, and satin clear. They weren’t color matched because the Blue Ribbon color looks very dark under the fender well. 52CCFE0E-9E14-4900-8A27-91134204D56A.jpg44BCDB9C-7DEB-4364-AB41-EFCF07344FB6.jpg672626B7-B473-4F55-BB17-CCB94CA85A2A.jpg89B3E306-52D1-4AA6-BE96-C28848DA0D56.jpg7A0C375F-332B-4615-AA84-60720CB83792.jpg3FF9F3A8-D25B-4EA1-9A4A-655417CD0C51.jpgC44AE6F1-0759-4E75-981D-63350916E49C.jpg45ABF85E-7222-4ABF-908F-A824522B01C9.jpg

Quick question figuring someone has probably had experience here.

Has anyone replaced a gasket in their exhaust and used a gasket that stays in place by starting the bolts to connect the pipe. If so pls provide a link or part number.

I have already tried replacing it with a straight circle gasket and even with adding a little product to keep it in place remember it being a bitch to line up. Obviously I didn't do a good job because I now need to replace it again.

The gasket where the tailpipe connects to the muffler? I used the Fel-Pro 60461 without any issues.
