Got my RC hood bulge light in today. I wired it into the daytime running lights so it comes on when I start the truck up. Took a little to get the right wire to splice into. It does go off when I turn the headlights on. I wired the amber in instead of the white because I’m told at the dealership, to pass inspection, I can’t run a white light above the headlights, but amber is ok as long as it goes out when you turn the headlights on. Maybe some day I’ll wire it so I can use white or amber by a switch for off road. For now I like the way it looks.C2CAF3E9-5A6B-4016-B4C4-D63D3274E2A1.jpg

The worst part about the two mods I done (grill & hood bulge light) was replacing broken clips from taking the grill & bulge off. $6.09 a piece. I needed to replace 4 in the grill and 3 in the bulge. Gas ain’t the only thing going up. It’s out of control.

2.5 inch lift, TRD front and rear sway bars, 33 inch Open Country AT3 305/55R20 and dual TRD exhaust.
That's a huge accomplishment. Well done!

What clips? I’m getting ready to swap grilles and bulges and want to be prepared.

I mounted CB antennas where you did once. Can you take a full pic of your truck? If not, a pic from the front?

    TIA

I’ve taken mine off a few times with no issues and I’m sure a lot of people have done it dozens of times. But never a bad idea to be prepared

There was some on the bottom part of the chrome that help hold the grill on. They slid on the C- shape holder. Same for the bulge. Those clips/fasteners pop on and off the body of the truck. Some of them were ok, some not. You won’t know how many you need if any until you take the bulge and grill assembly off.

So if I’m getting a new Grille and bulge, I shouldn’t need any since it comes with new ones (I’m assuming)

I attached my build sheet. I wanted the frameless stuff because of how clean it looks but read too many mixed reviews. This is the same top I had on my tacoma except this one has a front fold down window so I can keep my truck clean and pass stuff through if I ever need to. I love having full access on both side.

I had a to get one clip/fastener for each of my taillights when I upgraded them. Maybe being a 2014, stuffs starting to age and getting fragile. Duno.

My grill didn’t. My hood bulge came with screws to use where I had to ground down the plastic welds. I went to the dealership to get the clips/fasteners.

Your grill should come with other hardware to attach it to your truck. But you do need to reuse some of the original hardware too.

Thanks. The center caps looked gray, and not bronze in the picture, so I thought I'd ask. Great looking wheels!

Yes they are. I changed the oil in my wife’s Corolla last week. I had to replace one of them button type fastener on the splash guard into the bumper.

If you’re talking about the OEM grill and hood bulge they come with all new clips. I just replaced my SR5 grill and bulge with a TRD Sport grill and it came with all new clips already installed. I did have to reuse the bolts for the bulge.

After driving around for a couple days with one side white and the other black, trying to decide if I liked the painted white or non painted black bumper end better...

Bought them used actually, someone moved up to 20" wheels. Had to go out of state to get them but they fit the Tundra so well, totally worth it.

    Vehicle:
    2017 Tundra Limited 4x4 - black
    - Billstein 5100 Ride-Height Adjustable front shocks, set to ‘level’ the truck (raised the front approx. 2-inches). - K&N Cold Air Intake (#77-9036KP) - Bakflip G2 tri-fold hard tonneau. - Flowmaster, Series 44, 2-in/2-out. - Slightly bigger 275-60/20 Firestone Destination All-Terrain (33-inch). - Husky X-Act Contour Floor Liners. - GTR Lighting Gen 3 LED Ultra Series headlight bulbs. - GTR Lighting switchback LED bulbs for DRL, Blinkers and Parking lights. - Philips X-tremeVision LED Fog Lights - Vehicle OCD™ (Organized Console Device) ($25 Amazon, awesome). - The Stubby radio antenna. - Philips Bright White Vision LED Back-up Light (921/T16) (12789LPB2) for rear high mount cab lights (awesome). - SYLVANIA 168 T10 5W White LED Bulbs for tag/license plate lights. - Carbon Fiber Door Sill Protectors. - TRDbeast door handle decals and center console emblem. - Tailgate letter inserts, carbon fiber. - Blacked-out chrome “TUNDRA” on front doors. - Tow Hooks painted red (+5 hp).
Ultimately, personal preference, but I would’ve painted the center [black plastic] portion white to color-key/match the outer portions of your front bumper. I loved how my Tacoma w/ TRD Sport package had color-matched bumpers, front & rear. Color-matching any black plastic costs more than leaving plastic unpainted, and looks nicer to me. But again, personal preference. I have chrome outers, and black plastic inner (center portion), and my goal is to paint the black center plastic silver like the 1794s come.
