What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Installed a 2019 TRD grille on my 2015 SR5. Loving the new look. Now I just gotta get rid of the chrome on the bumper caps. Anyone on here use spray paint to paint the bumper caps black? If so what did you use?

 

Transmission cooler installed. This was one of the MHX-514 "ugly weld" ones that Nicholas had a deal on at the end of last year. The truck didn't get much use over the winter, and I wasn't going to lay on the floor of the shop doing the install when it was 15 degrees out, so just now got around to it.

 

Painted my caps wind chill Pearl, and center garnish matte black, process is the same, I used 80grit sand paper on my random orbital sander to scuff up the chrome, used self etching primer, color coat (your case black, doesn’t matter flat or gloss), then used 2k matte black (the spray can that you pop the red button to mix). You should only need one can of each

 

5100s up front on middle setting the other day, little how it started vs how it's going

 

Ran some errands this morning and my wife noticed the door edge guard coming off her door. Since I was only 2 minutes away from the dealer I thought I would stop in and get them to order a new one since it’s under warranty. No problem with that, but… then I see this on my driver seat. They got the ink out but ruined the seat bottom in the process. Now they have the door edge guard and a seat bottom ordered. Should be 4-5 day lead time. I’m not happy about this but I’m sure it wasn’t done intentionally.

 

Did you take the parts off or paint in place?

1 can for front, 1 can for back, looks near exact.

 

I just bought a 2014 5.7 liter SR5 tundra with the multi informational display. Does it have an oil change light or reminder? I am a little confused where it is, and is it due for a change?

 

Check the dip stick. If it looks dirty, change it. Or low / high just change it. Start off fresh.

oil change maintenance light comes on every 5k.

not a display but just a light that will come one. This is the reset procedure

Finished installing my Carhartt seat covers and installed the OEM remote tailgate lock.

 

It does have CarPlay. I have no idea if it is compatible with the JBL or not. Someone here will know. My truck is a 2020 SR5 non-JBL with a factory amp under the seat.

 

Added RAS today. Easy to install. Set at white (25%) tiddlywink spacer; added about 1” of rake. Took it for a test ride. Happy so far.

 

Just a good wash/wax. I am still happy with chemical guys Insta-wax.

 

Boost power fold mirrors came in yesterday so today was the day and man they're sharp.

Only thing I don't like is the switch doesn't fit into the stock openings and it isn't illuminated. We did the install in a buddy's 2019 as well...

 

How was the install? Hoping to get mine on this week.

 

EZ mode. Funnest part is running wires through your door boot. Use baling wire or a wire coat hanger. I had puddle light wiring from my previous lights so I tied onto one of those wires and pulled stuff through.

 

Mine come in Tuesday - looking forward to installing.

 

It is possible to make them work with the factory 2007-2013 Limited power fold switch - then you don't need a separate switch taking up space.

 

Oil change, Engine air filter, cabin air filter, and installed Fumoto oil drain valve and the aluminum oil filter housing.


Also noticed the powder coat on my NFab stainless steps is coming off pretty bad. I need to get the truck cleaned up and figure out what I want to do about it... Not sure I want sliders that are made out of carbon steel. Might end up pulling these and getting them Line-X'd.

 

how do you like your tune? Debating on doing this, I did it for my Tacoma and it’s good, but it really needed it with the shifting and my 5.29 gearing

 

Had the same thing happen on 2017. They sent me a new set for free and let me keep the original set. The bad thing is it happened again to the 2nd set.

 

Which ones did you go with? Where did you order from and how do you like the fit? Any issues with install? After the dealer mishap I posted above, I think I need some covers to prevent future issues.
