What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Full replacement morimoto xb license plate lights tonight. I had tried some vled drop in bulbs but was less than impressed. These full replacements are exactly what I was looking for. Not too terribly bright but a noticeable improvement over stock in both brightness and color.

This was with the vled bulbs for comparison.

 

I've had these for quite a while and they seem to be holding up great but I almost wish they weren't as bright as they are, I find they seem to wash out my rear camera more than I'd like.

 

There are solutions for that, whether it’s the “disable license plate lights in reverse” harness or the basic little covers that covers the top half of the light. If I find it to be an issue I’ll spring for the “disable in reverse” harness.

Got the coilover shock reservoir brackets in today. Shocks show up on Friday install on Saturday.

 

Haha. It’s my business so I’m inclined to promote it any way possible. I’ve had that same style wrap on my work cars for over 13 years. It gets the job done and I can claim all my miles for taxes.

My first milestone going to the gym this morning

 

I see a number of people upgrade the license plate lights. I'm curious, and this is a serious question, what is the incentive to have a brighter license plate light? I understand headlights, backup lights, brake and marker lights, cargo, interior etc. The only value I see is to make it easier for someone or the police to read your plate at night and I'm not sure how that is a benefit?

 

Gonna last forever at that rate…. Yeah that’s jealously on my part lol.

I’m a cop and even I think it’s pretty pointless. Law says the plate has to be clearly readable at 50 feet, which the stock bulbs do just fine.

 

Longer bulb life and matching light color/temperature were my reasons. I didn’t get fancy super-bright ones though - just basic LEDs…they were part of the kit I bought that was only like $30 for all the interior and the license plate lights.

 

For me, the LEDs for the license plate lights also helps when using the backup camera at night.

 

These are the sequoia heritage rather than the LC heritage so they're dark gray like the rims but with a bronze circle around the outside of the cap. It isn't the full bronze like the LC cap. Nice though. It should go well with the cement paint. Won't be as bold as the LC full bronze wheel/caps.
