    This is not correct.

Only 15% of tundra parts are manufactured abroad.
Most of these parts being produced in Canada.
The only part on the tundra coming from Mexico is literally a wire harness.

nothing big for me this past week, changed the engine and cabin air filter. Went with Wix. Got the cabin filter version that has the activated charcoal and am very impressed with the filter.

Finally man-up’d and wired the light bar after researching how to. Used a relay and went with the two switches to
Switch from white to amber. Probably could have gone with only 1 switch to accommodate the dual lights. Live and learn.

So that is why my mirrors and leaf springs say Mexico on them! Thanks for your opinion, but you are absolutely full of nonsense.

Who gives a shit. It's known for reliability so why worry about where the parts come from. Samsung are good tv's and their parts are from all over.

Went for a drive in the forest. (yesterday). Drove about 5 miles in 4 low and atleast 10 in 4 wheel drive overall just to give it a workout. It was wet/muddy and it trashed the truck. Found about 400 lbs worth of prime oak to split up for the firepit. Power washed it on the way home, was a good day.

Interesting about the Mexico-made leaf springs. I’ve been under my Tundra a few times but never bothered to check that.

I used to have a 2003 1st gen Tacoma TRD extended cab 4x4. It was by far the best, most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned. I sold it when it had 205K trouble-free miles, and the only reason I did so was because my son’s baby seat wouldn’t fit in the back seat.

Anyway, I noticed that when I installed an Add-a-leaf to it, the rear Taco leaf springs said “Mexico” on them. It’s my understanding the 1st gen Tacos used to be manufactured at the joint Toyota-GM NUMMI plant in California. I also know that the 1st gen frames were made at the same Dana Corp. plant in Tennessee that made the F150 frames at that time. So even back then, Toyota appears to have used parts from different North American (Mexico/US/Canada) manufacturing plants in addition to those from Japan.

It wouldn’t surprise me if some parts in our Tundras also come from Mexico. But I wouldn’t necessarily assume Mexican-made parts are inferior. The US-made Dana Corp. 1st gen Tacoma frames were known for having premature rust issues if exposed to lots of road salt. So even US-made parts have been known to have quality issues.

As for Mexican-made leaf springs, I don’t know if all Tundra leaf springs come from Mexico or just some. But I don’t remember reading in here about any systemic leaf spring issues. Just a smattering of posts on here and other forums of mostly the middle leaf breaking - and of those some were aftermarket. The number of posts make me think it’s not at all a common issue, but I admit I don’t peruse the forums that much.

Mine were spray paint stenciled Mexico on the top, you can probably verify with a mirror and flashlight if you have a newer truck.

I can verify the leaf springs are made in Mexico, at least the two sets that I’ve personally dealt with on my truck. Not that it really makes a difference.

I will take something made in Mexico over something made in China, all day every day. Of course I would prefer everything to be made and sourced in the USA that I consume, but that’s quite difficult. No offense to other countries but I like to keep my money in house if possible. Creating and supporting American jobs, is where it’s at!

On that note, I’m still super stoked on my black TVD vinyl wheel overlays! And the coachbuilder + twos also give it the stance I love. now it just needs a bath. Hopefully I get a little cloud cover this afternoon or I’ll wake up early and do it tomorrow.EB2AAA30-533A-4F29-BEDD-A1F6454BB623.jpg

someday I’ll upgrade my bump stops to accommodate the extra lift. I typically don’t overload so I’m not worried about it until I get a travel trailer someday.

I’m in the process installing these and I figured out how to take out the door panel thats easy. Does any one have an idea on where I tap the 2 wires. It’s the clearing light and running light.

The Tacoma’s and Corolla are completely manufactured in Mexico.
You’re correct, their reliability hasn’t seemed to suffer.

My OEM mirrors were stamped with “Product of Canada”
My leaf springs do not say Mexico on them.
    So, there’s that.

However, it’s good to know that I’m absolutely, full of nonsense… not just a little bit.
    Informative.

I’m just curious what you have against Mexicans?

Never claimed to have anything against Mexicans, just pointed out that Toyota is misleading with a Made in U.S.A. label on the truck. Many people brag about it too. I don't care where your parts came from, but I do know that my truck was definitely not made in the USA!

Just have to share this with you guys.
I have been waiting for more than a month for my "Bumpershelz" grill for my Tundra.
Leti at the place was nice when I contacted them and found my order.
She said contact her if I received nothing by the 2nd as to where my order was.
It is now the 12th and still no parts.
I have requested a return of my payment to my CC.
Don't know if anyone has experienced this but, this is bad business.

Well technically it is. It is assembled in the USA. There is no car in existence that has every part on it that is made in it's home country.

That looks awesome! This is the first time I'm hearing about the wheel overlays. Looks like they are out of stock. Any idea how long these last before wear/tear?

Dang, you're right. All this time I thought they were made in Texas, so I had to google it and discovered they're now made in Mexico. Guess I was living under a rock all this time and missed that.

    https://www.autoblog.com/2020/01/18/toyota-tacoma-production-mexico/

Starting with the 2nd gen Tacomas, I believe they were at first made in both Texas and Mexico. But I don't believe the 1st generation Tacomas were ever made in Mexico (or maybe the made the last year of the 1st gen Tacoma - 2004 model?). If I remember correctly, they were all supposedly made in California (or at least the 95.5 to 2003 models). But I agree. I don't think that being made in Mexico means their quality is any worse.

Well, I guess I should say "assembled" rather than "made". I know parts come from different countries, especially in our globalized economy.

And I know your question was directed at someone else, but just to be clear I have nothing against Mexico or Mexicans. Heck, my wife is Mexican! Somehow, she agreed to marry this old Puerto Rican.

Only time will tell. I have seen a few comments from guys over a year, no issues. I think it also depends on where you live and the types of conditions you put them through like weather and salt. Also applying them properly. I went over mine twice to make sure they were put down well. Just be diligent about making the edges adhere.
