Took awhile but finally painted my engine cover. Gained a lot of respect for all the guys that have done this because taping it off to paint was much more of a task than I expected. Like most others I used the VHT plastic paint and it works superbly. I did 2 coats of the silver under the blue just to make it pop a little more. I also threw down a coat of glossy clear to make it easier to clean. Happy with the result even on a pouring day.

I have my engine cover off to do the same. I haven't gotten around to it. I'm going to paint blue as well, but white in the middle. Nice work!

Pre-cat was already changed a few years back. So I'm not super worried about that. Engine consumes some oil, but nothing I'm worried about on a 1K commuter car...

@BlueCrushSC16 , @TunBrun , @jhardy1979 thanks guys! Really happy with how it turned out.
When taping it off, I found it easier to tape over the line and then cut along the joint with a knife, and pull the extra tape off. Otherwise the non straight edges are a bear... but once you get it taped up its really easy to paint. With the VHT plastic paint, you don't need a primer or adhesion promoter.

Ordered new shoes today after taking forever to decide on something. Not sure why I was so completely indecisive on wheels. Probably because I didn’t want to end up hating them again, like my current ones.

Will definitely change up the look from your black wheels. Your truck always looks good but hopefully you end up liking these wheels more :fingerscrossed:

Yeah the matte black are just meh and get lost. I haven’t seen anyone around town with these Methods so looking forward to something a bit different. Hopefully they will look good on my otherwise Stormtrooper Tundra

Thank you! It was cleaned as thoroughly as I could get it. After painting the whole engine cover and letting it cure, I coated everything including the black with Rustoleum 2X glossy clear. It made the dull black much brighter.

Installed the 3W window mod and ran the wires for a dash cam. Holy hell was fishing the power cable through the door grommet a bitch.

The mod isn't working though but I ran out of daylight. Need to test power tomorrow. Bah.

Stupid dash cam power wires are like 12" short of where they need to be so I have to go buy some wires to extend them .

It latches like a tonneau cover with a solid aluminum flat bar that will roll up with the window and has a buckle at the top to secure it open. One of the main reasons I went with fas-top compared to other brands that the bar removes and only held by plastic clips.
