What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

First nice day in a while, so I took the family out for a little light off-roading, and took the Tundra for a swim.

First chance I've had to bring her off the beaten path. Good time had by all...

 

I just orders those ESP under seat storage... maybe some tie downs and jumper cables will fit in them.

Traded my 2016 SR5 Double Cab for a 2014 Crewmax Limited.

Both my wife and mother, "I can't really tell the difference."

Guess it will be easier to hide all the mods. And time to start another build page

My cousin really liked the grill/ emblem combo. I let him keep it on the truck. Figured I would expand the #bandofbrothers

 

No, you assemble them to fit. Basically set the bar correctly, measure, make up the links, test fit. Took 2 tries.

 

So, this happened...


Then this happened: As I was talking to my Toyota service manager while getting my oil changed, about my grill, he said he had an extra one that I can have. Brand new. Guess it was leftover from a swap out.
Now I love my Limited grill, and I was thinking of going with a platinum color matched grill and hood bulge, but hey, free is free, and money always seems tight. So, do I have a Limited with an SR5 grill, or a Limited with a 1794 grill? Lol.

 

Tried my hand at laying some vinyl, came out pretty good. I think I may do the roof as well. I'm digging the black and red...

 

There may be some spacers, flares, and slider/steps in the near future...

I ordered an oversized sheet. I used "knifeless tape" to cut it in place. Piece of cake!

 

Sounds easy, except I've only heard of knifeless tape and have no clue how it works. Where did you get the sheet from? Is it a wet install or dry? How long of a guarantee do you have on the decal?

Sorry for all the questions but I've been wanting to do this for a long time now. Just too cheap to pay someone to do it for me.

 

This looks awesome, great job!

 

It's a thin transparent film type tape with something like floss string running through it. You lay it down along the desired lines on the hood, then lay the vinyl down (dry) over it.

On a relatively flat surface like the hood the vinyl is easy to get flat with a squeegee. It is "sticky", but doesn't really grab until you press it down, so you can take your time and reposition as necessary until you get it right.

Then you just basically grab the "floss" and pull it right through the tape and vinyl. As long as you pull it at a sharp angle it cuts through the vinyl like butter leaving a nice sharp clean edge. After that, pull off the scrap vinyl and the tape that is left behind and squeegee down the edge. Done.

I just watched one YouTube video a couple of weeks ago and then walked out there today like I knew what I was doing. What do you know, it worked! All that was left to do was strut around my driveway like a boss for a few laps, then go have myself a beverage.

 

Forgot you asked about the film. Not sure about the guarantee, you'll have to look that one up. I did do a bit of research before buying the stuff a month or so back, but forget the specifics. I got 3M 1080 film. I believe iirc it was good for 7 years, but don't quote me on that.

 

Vinyl looks great as does your truck...

 

Locker down safe installed. Impressive. Fit perfect and easy install. I did have to remove the rails for the OEM organizer tray, but not a big deal.

 

Put in bilsteins for level/lift yesterday, and painted mirror caps today!

Then I installed my Rigid Industries SR-30 light bar ... (Ran out of light so will work on wiring tomorrow)
