Pulled front tow hooks to paint them TRD red. My truck was built 7/7/2020 and there was already a good amount of rust between tow hooks and frame. It looks like the tow hooks are installed before paint. Sorry no pics, but I took a wire brush (a wire wheel on a drill would have been better) and knocked off as much as I could. I hit the frame with some BMW Space Grey spray I had laying around since no one will see it anyway. For anyone who hasn't done this yet, even if you don't want to change the color of your hooks it may be worth a look and just treat the frame.

After 4 years of a white Plastic-dipped front bumper, (4 layers white, 3 layers clear), it was finally time to remove it all.

62k miles of rocks, bugs, and other inanimate objects, and high pressure hosings started pock marking the plastic-dip. Honestly, for the weather and use it’s taken, I’m quite impressed with that stuff. It did really really well.

It took nearly 5 hours to clean the dip off.
Sanded it all down, brake cleaned it all and got out the T-Rex Super White roll on bedliner.
I coated the fog light housing pieces as well, since they tended to shift around minutely. They don’t do that anymore.

Now where’s that damned deer so I can procure a more solid front bumpah!!

@BigJuelz, what did you do to have that wood bed divider stay in place? Screwed to the bed wall on each side?

The bed has detents for it. Look in the circles and you can see it is slid down between them.

@Turtle88 - why does it look like your sway bar end links are tilting or leaning towards the front of the truck? Is that perspective or do they lean towards the front?

There are already grooves in the truck bed sides. You just cut the wood to size and slide into the grooves from the top.

Has anyone had experience with the bumper caps made out of ABS plastic? I had my chrome wrapped and it’s starting to peel a bit and just wondering if anyone has had experience with the ABS replacements as to fit and also how they will last if painted. Any help would be appreciated....thanks all!

Which caps are you referring to? People seem to have good luck with the ecologic covers and you could paint those without issue. Any of the colored bumper caps from Toyota are plastic. So not really understanding your concern?

it’s more of a cost issue. The chrome ones that are on the truck are obviously metal and the paintable metal replacements the I am seeing are $200+ a piece from what I have found so far (not counting painting), but the plastic replacements I have found are less than $150 for both. I have looked at the covers but those seem to be almost as much if not more than metal replacements that can be painted. I have already put money into the wrap so just looking for the least expensive option that will last.

And wasn’t aware that the factory paint match ends were plastic, thought they were all either chrome or painted metal.
