Rock chips and surface rust. The crossmembers and bottom sides of the frame were rock blasted bare with no paint left. The inner fender coating was flaking and coming off in quarter sized pieces in some places.

Now that it's been whole assed it's good for another 24 years. Should be easier to maintain/ easier to keep looking good with less work too!

Why do people think just cause we live in a hotter than hell state our shit don't rust? I mean it takes our trucks way way way longer to rust through true, but they'll still die in 20 or 30 years if not looked after. Bare minimum oil your frame once a year.

Just mounted up these bad boys.

34x11.50r17 (285/75r17). Bought the tires on Black Friday from Simple Tire shipped for under $1,200. And the wheels on Amazon from a Toyota dealer, shipped for $1,050 a few years back. Just got around to getting them together. I would have done it sooner, but I can’t wear out my Toyo AT II’s, I’ve got 116k on them.

It's a similar dry vs wet heat thing. We know rust occurs everywhere but compared to the rust belt your vehicles are pristine.

Y'all for sure have some clapped out rides but up here you see less than 10 year old cars with rotted out rockers, quarters, and fenders.

Good point and we've talked about this before but mud can also cause rot. I always hose my frame down as good as I can after wheeling. Once or twice a year I try to do a deep clean with the pressure washer.

Truck doing truck things. Yanked an 8yo cypress out of the ground rootball & all. No clue why it died, ground was still moist.

    Those look great!

Haven't tried more than 33.2" (yet).

Loved the Toyo Open Country AT IIs! Got 101,000+ miles over almost 10 years and could have gone more.
    Toyo AT II.jpg
Needed deep snow traction and replaced with Discount Tire Pathfinder ATs for $893.28 that are doing well. First time trying these and not counting on 100K but maybe similar ROI for the lower cost. We'll see.
    Pathfinder AT.jpg
Also got another set of Geolander A/T 2015s for the Taco. Last set lasted the full 60,000 miles.

I haven’t installed mine yet (out of the country still). I like that these have the knob external to be able to grip and rotate. The OE ones perpetually break and you have to “pinch” them to twist which is a little awkward. Guess we’ll see.

My knobs are set until december. Anyone trys to touch em, we're gonna have words. Kinda wish the a/c clutch talked to the cruise control so the compressor only ran at 0-15% throttle.

Its all personal preference man. If it makes folks happy let em do it. Remember if it's not your truck who the fuck cares. I personally don't care for the silver ring, if it was all black IMO it would look better. But that's my take, semi purist, and my opinion don't fucking matter on someone else's styling. And it could always be worse, there are people out there that legitimately like the "step side flare" style Tundra beds out there..... Like wtf was anyone thinking with that design lol.
