Fascinating, I didn't notice the pitch spike at that driveway ledge, but you're right.

I'd been suspecting it was up front, and potentially on that side. I noticed two brake things after my failed 1st attempt at suspension, popping the front passenger UBJ. I was really sick when I tried doing the work and pretty delirious but was hellbent on getting it done before surgery. Thing one, in hindsight, I'm remembering hearing the squeal after, but thinking "ah, it's just settling after that work". And I wasn't hearing it nearly that much. Two, I remember I started noticing if the truck sat for a day or three, the pedal would be hard when I jumped in. Like, can't depress it at all until you start the truck. As in, I'm not holding vacuum after shutting the truck off for more than a few hours.

I still need to track down the vacuum loss thing. I should really inspect the check valve, its grommet, and soap spray the lines.

Started working on chipping out the epoxy from the Waltrip grill. Next up will be clearing out and epoxy-filling the holes, then off for sand, prep and primer I guess.

That grill look like something you could make yourself. Didn’t someone on here do that? The mesh looks like heater vent grating from the home.

FMS made it for Toyota and added it to the Waltrip branded trucks, and offered it as a grille option maybe in one of the catalogs? Every time I see one up for sale, it goes fast. I've seen them sell as high as $300 on fleabay in mint shape. :notsure:

Once I get it nice, blocked, sanded, primed with white primer, I'll test fit. If it looks good, I'll paint it 056 and keep it. If not, I'll sell the f'n thing still in primer.

This is kinda what it looks like on a white AC when blacked out and a silver DC when not (I plan to stay silver mesh). The AC is shorter in the face, note the legs being longer on the DC. I don't like how it looks on the DC. I do like how it looks on the AC/RC hood.

It's easier when you look at them like this. 'The hockey stick' filler panel under the light is taller on the DCs, and FMS (ATS) made a grille with taller "legs" to accomodate the DC grille. I did way too much digging on this one before I dropped the coin, to make sure it'd look ok, and moreover, it'll fit.

One thing, not a big thing, that has always looked wonky to me is the way the hood margin/gap flows down into the top of the headlight like 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch from the seam of the headlight and signal-marker lenses. Like something is "off", or not aligned.IMG_20200610_110826.jpg

It’s been a long day, but I definitely was thinking the hockey stick was thicker on the DC, but the hood scoop and lines down the side of the AC hood kept throwing my perspective off. But I doooooooo, kinda see it more now

I don’t care for the lower bezel personally. Would look better either thinner or non-existent.

At TS there was a dude that trimmed his hood to fit DC lights on an AC. I couldnt find the post after 10min of searching, but if done right coulda looked cool. (I dont think he ever posted 'finished' pics)

i might pull a JY grille to cut up for mesh. I think it looks great on the '99-'02 trucks.

Just like my fruitless search for the dude who put an early year grill on an 03-06. I like the earlier style myself.

I guess the real question would be the latch function, like is it in the same location/would it work.
For some reason I want to do this, not the headlights but the grill.. and add some (high vis) green LEDs on the lower portion

I don't think the latch changed.

I know on my 03 taco, when I changed the grill from OEM to OEM shell with mesh grill, I had to bend the latch handle a little, in order to make it useable with the mesh grill.

Someone on here ... is it @KNABORES ? ... has a TRD emblem on their grille. It's late, and my brain no work.

Who is it that has one? If I do this, I think I'm going to play around with a TRD badge in the lower driver corner. I may also go with Toyota emblem in the center. Any easy options for a mesh grille like this?

Any recos on filling deep holes in plastic that's sandable? I've seen all kinds of new products on the market in the last 10yrs but dunno if any are decent.

Glad you nailed this. Look forward to the report after a few more backups that there's no more squeel but seems like this is solved!
