Maps on phone, nav in head unit Gaia on designated tablet. I like options, but love gaia for getting off the beaten path. All on ram mounts on a Rago dash mount.

Similar setup for me too. When traveling I run my iPad mini with Waze or Gaia. Next to it I run my inReach. Both are mounted to the dash with the ICS mount and ram mounts. Occasionally for a quick trip I’ll toss my iPhone in the mount I normally use for the inReach since it’s a generic mount.

Gaia is such a powerful tool! I have barely scratched the surface and continue to be impressed. Thus far, for road trips and finding new fishing spots, it's worth the premium annual subscription.

I like that option. I may even like it more than having to drill holes in the dash.

Edit: After looking at this Hondo mount more, I do have a question; is the vent that you attach this to still fully functional?

You receive GPS signal regardless of cell signal. Network services dependent on cell signal won't be available but GPS always received. I've used Here app on android devices which can be used offline with GPS signal received for nav when overseas. Downloaded the country map when no cell service was available and used device for nav. Similar to your standard alone Garmin.

For on road I use the factory Nav it works just fine. Though I have a 2014 so an updated card is in order.

Offroad I use Gaia on a navigation capable Samsung Galaxy Tab. My buddy really likes OnXHunt so I am going to start fooling with that.

I have the ICS Fab dashmount that I ordered for Black Friday but have been too busy to install.

Thanks I will try to remember this little nugget when I have no location info on my phone.

I like using the dedicated device and find little benefit trying to use for monkey tasking on the phone while I drive.

Gaia on phone or tablet for exploring, hiking, hunting. It's a sweet app, worth the subscription.

Google maps for driving navigation. Android auto (or apple) works well if you have that option.

G Maps is all i need. So much detail now adays, far more than other sources.
I also keep an old phone just for Torque.

FYI, if you are going offroad you can download "offline maps" into Google Maps of the particular area. I have done this multiple times and it works great. There was even more detail of the area than my Garmin unit.

I’m really digging OnXHunt. It has been the easiest to figure out and use. I download an area I’m going in advance and it shows every single trail I’ve ever attempted to find. Pretty impressive.

Garmin (can't remember the model) on a Pro Clip mount. I have used this one for quite a while. Lots of "Saved Locations" all over the country.

Nope. Lots of miles traveling out west on two lane highways with no cell signal.

Littlw bit here and there yeah. Dont feel like drilling into the dash though for the ICS Fab or Rago mount and TBH my dash vibrates a lot from the middle so I feel that option was bouncy bounce as well.

Current setup works well enough that I wont be messing with it.

Had not heard of Gaia, will look into it thank you. For way offroad, I gotta 2nd Green Thunder – I used to do a decent amount of "way out there" hunting in Maine, and the Garmin GPS Map60x handhelds (the current unit is 66) were the only ones that would find a signal/show location in the middle of nowhere, even in lower-elevation/creek bottom terrain. Maybe others have caught up by now but I trust those units fwiw.

It does for google, you can drop pins to mark POI and leave breadcrumbs to mark your route in unknown areas.
