Something to think about. I threw a couple rolls of presidential 1 dollar (gold) coins in the glove box. If your truck burns up, you still have $50 $100 bucks that didn't burn up.

Spare panties from all the ones that have been dropped.:D

My last trip out I thought I had everything. I reckon I didnt, forgot my first aid kit. My boy needed a band aid and guess what? It wasnt there. Luckily someone in a GMCUNDRA had theirs.
What i am getting at is make sure you inventory properly before you head out. I had mine out replacing and restocking my stuff and failed to put it back.

Been putting together my emergency stuff for the new truck. Tossed the old first aid kit as it was really old and grungy and went to .99c store to get most of the bits. The didn't have a nice small plastic box, but they had an Angry Birds Space kids backpack soooo... Looks funny, works great. Got everything I needed except for antiseptic salve and sting-eez for about 28 bucks, filled the backpack and stuffed it mostly under the seat, sticks out a little. Added some new duct tape, cuticle scissors, glow sticks. Fire extinguisher and long handle lug nut tool under the rear seat. Need to pick up an MRE or two.
    In back,
    Toolbox with:
    Socket set with extra ratchet
Several types of pliers and wire strippers.
    Alan key set.
    Ratcheting wrench set
Small bolt of wire and wire crimps
    Locking pliers
    Recovery strap
    Screwdrivers
    Hose clamps
    Fuses
EDIT: Also have tac light that uses 123A type lithium batteries. Don't do the D cell flashlights, when you need it, the batteries will be dead and corroding... And a lithium battery powered battery jump-charger.
And mounted this morning to the rail sys with those little stainless cubes from Amazon and stainless bolts:
    Shovel
    Fire extinguisher
    Things to get:
    New 5 gallon water jug.
Maybe a soft shackle or two from Amazon.
Need to decide on a compressor.
Then I need to read all the prior posts for any other good ideas...

A survival kit should take into account the typical issues you have in your area that can impact your ability to reach loved ones. Cuz frankly, I am more worried about the next riot or quake and remember all too well fleeing Westwood during the last riot. Took 5 hours to go 17 miles. It was a zoo. Luckily (for me) the problem was south of me and I was going north west. If the Valley had exploded in lawlessness it would have probably taken double that and I would have needed food and water and a blanket if I couldn't get through. So adding a spacebag with a blanket and a change of clothing compressed in it, to the list of things I need to add, along with a map that shows things like fire roads, for when overpasses are collapsed making freeways useless. And if CA stops you-know-what-ing with my rights, I would include my Browning HP in my kit.

Cell phone would be very important, so I already have a usb cigarette lighter charger that has AC plug that pops out the side, so I can even use it in a hotel room, and two sets of USB-USBC cables.

The more I think seriously about this, the more I realize that this has morphed into a disaster/bugout/offroad kit with me, and not just a SHTF while 4xing kit, as this truck is my daily driver, not just my weekend fun truck.

A sealed bottle of mead wouldn't be a bad idea either...

Tow strap, ratchet straps, mag light, reflective vest, and channel locks. These things usually always get the job done.

I generally. keep my bug out bag (3+ day pack i guess? food/water for three days, then extra stuff like water filtration, water purification, trapping stuff, shelter, first aid, etc etc), a sleeping bag, warm clothes, maps (my state and surrounding states), a good set of boots, a more comprehensive IFAK than the bag has, gun and ammo, truck help stuff (jumpers, some tools, etc), flashlights, batteries, paracord, fire extinguisher, shovel, axe, knife, waters in most of the cup holders...i think that’s most of it. haven’t had the truck very long yet so i’m still working out a good storage solution. i am waiting for someone to figure a way to easily access behind the rears of the crewmax :fingerscrossed:

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
I've probably had everything listed at one point or another, in some combination.

Main staples tho…. Extra mags, TP and handful of 10 mm sockets

I keep an emergency kit backpack I bought off Amazon. Has jumper cables, flares, triangles, gloves, water, etc in it. Should be sufficient, given that I rarely travel off the beaten path and cell phones work almost everywhere I travel.
