Exactly ^^^. I have a great $200 Adventure Mountain Comprehensive First Aid Kit. Even though I have that...Check Out ToyTec. They sell locally owned CO made top notch first aid kits by Outer Limits. I'm going to order the DayTripper kit tomorrow. Check it out. Going to PM David at ToyTec in a few minutes about pricing as soon as I finish my Bud.

Back when we were hanging out on the southern coast of St. Barts with the spider monkeys, I’d always keep a hyperbaric vacuum pump around just in case. Nowadays, I just keep some gloves handy.

Big ones for me are a fire extinguisher and trauma kit. Another one I have that I don't see alot of people think of is a 1/2" drive breaker bar and socket for my lug nuts. Way better than the dinky thing that comes in the tire repair kit.

I'm an emergency medical responder, so one step under EMT. With my training, the additional specialty stuff I add to my trauma kit includes airways, suction device, stethoscope, and BP cuff. A fingertip SPO2 monitor would be nice but being battery powered I can't trust it to remain workable in the wildly fluctuating temperatures here. Nothing too fancy. I'm not trained to run IV's, use decompression needles or do a cricothyrotomy so I don't carry anything related to those.

Everything else is pretty standard; Tourniquet, abdominal pads, Israeli bandages, gauze rolls, pressure bandages, triangular bandages, FOX seal, SAM splint, burn gel, band aids, SAM splint etc etc.

Thanks for your response. I will add a few things based on your post. I have a stethoscope and a bp monitor, but hadn’t been keeping them in the truck. I’m surprised you didn’t mention sanitary napkins for the big gushers. I like having eye cups and eye wash too.

Eye cups and eye wash a good idea. I don't have them yet, thus I didn't list them. Assuming by gusher you mean major bleeds, sanitary napkins aren't a good choice. There's better items for controlling bleeding. If you mean a bad case of the Taco Bell squirts, I keep shit tickets and hand sanitizer in the truck as well. :)

The one disclaimer I should add is to only carry equipment you're trained to to use. I don't carry EMT or paramedic level equipment, even if I have a good idea how to use it, because I'm not properly trained in it's use and my EMR practice permit doesn't allow me to use it. As an example, if I were to carry an IV set up and attempted to run an IV my permit could/would be revoked for going outside of my scope of practice.

Here in Canada, my first aid actions (and those of everyone, licenced or not) are covered under the Good Samaritan Act as long as I'm acting within my scope of practice as a licenced first responder. Non-licenced first aiders are also covered as long as they act "within reason". Joe Blow with level 1 first aid who watched a youtube video then tries to cric someone with a pocket knife and a straw isn't covered. LOL

In short, you very likely open yourself up to lawsuits and/or disciplinary action especially if you screw something up by going above your training level.

Tundras come with a built in bidet. Just squat on the hood above the washer fluid nozzle and have your passenger hit the lever. :D

Thank you for your input. My gear for emergencies is focused mostly on remote survival scenarios. An exploring or hunting event gone wrong: most likely broken bones or bleeding, possibly internal injury. My training is limited to basic first aid, and I would not be interested in doing procedures I’m not sure about. My experience as a life long construction supervisor (stuff on the job, not to myself) is a lot of heat collapse, several deep punctures, blunt force traumas, 2 involuntary amputations (fingers), several deep lacerations and 1 fatality. In most cases, my involvement was limited to calling 911.
The legal limitations you describe would not matter for the purpose of the gear I carry. I’m thinking about stuff more along the lines of expedition/bug out/off road survival.

Not a problem. I just always try to put that caveat in when listing my gear like airways, suction, BP cuff. Wouldn't want someone to just run out and grab stuff they're not trained to use.

Sounds like you have your situations pretty well covered. Based on your needs and mind set, it sounds like you're in excellent shape to deal with 99% of the injuries you may come across. :)

I usually add more trip specific stuff if I am going somewhere. That’s just the stuff I can keep out of sight. Already had a window smashed out once at work so don’t keep anything in the truck I can’t lose. I definitely need to add first aid stuff.

Maybe I'm just a city slicker here, but about the only things I keep in my truck are

    1. Rope, bungees, ratchet strap, good for securing a load.

    2. Fire extinguisher. Really this was the same one from back when I had my beat to shit ugly ass 1993 Toyota pickup 6-7 years ago. It was a $500 runner, fixed it up a good bit mechanically, great running truck but one quick glance at it and you'd think that yeah you probably should keep a fire extinguisher in that truck.

    3. Tire pressure gauge.

    4. Small flashlight. And backup small flashlight, because you never know when that stupid ass first one won't work(happened when I had that 1993 Toyota, stranded on the side of the road, flashlight didn't work).

    5. Jumper cables.

    6. Phone Charger. And Phone. Can't run out of juice or cell phone coverage.

    7. Blanket. Mainly for sliding crap into the bed/over the tailgate without damaging it/scuffing the paint. Also serves well if you drive into a blizzard. Pretty sure I will never do that since I live in Tennessee and know better than to drive over a damn mountain when its snowing.

    8. Pocket knife in the center console, comes in handy.

    9. S&W Model 29 .44, 5" barrel, mounted under the steering column. Figured if I can't get to my waist mounted glock 19 sitting down, you can draw this pistol out with your right hand and immediately unload on somebody pretty quickly.

    10. First Aid Kit, never had to use it, hopefully never will.

    11. Extra shirt. Never know when you might sweat thru the one you have. I also don't like to get into the seat with a shirt soaked all the way thru.
