Also, soy. Anything with soy in it is just garbage.

Bloat is a good thing to bring up! It's deadly if not caught in time. Vets (at least most, mine does) can go in and "staple" the stomach to prevent it from flipping. I had both my danes done while they were under getting neutered.

I second this! They have a great breakdown of ingredients, and a solid list of recalls.

My dingo had allergies, Nutro Max grain free with salmon was the only thing that helped her

Food allergies suck. My pitbull will swell up like a balloon and nearly die if he gets beef or chicken. His first year of life cost me thousands is vet trips and steroid shots. Figuring out what to feed him was a shitty process.

Holistic Earthborn from tractor supply is the cheapest i could find. we do the buffalo great plains, grain free and probiotics. hes a pitty mix and had a bacterial problem and kennel cough when we picked him up. it cleared up pretty quick with the probiotics and some antibiotics. he still has ear infections every once in a while but we have been able to keep them under control.

I feed my Brittany Victor Performance dry food. Get it from my local feed store. They have a number of different recipes but I like the performance one because it has added glucosamine. I've heard great things about Diamond food as well. Lot's of good choices just research and go with what works best for your pup.

For those of you who feed your pups Diamond or Taste of the Wild, the Costco brand is the same thing. I used to feed my corgis taste of the wild grain free until I found out Diamond makes Taste of the Wild and Costco brand. Used to spend $48 for a 25 pound bag and now spend around $30 for a 35 pound bag.

This is similar to what I do sometimes but mix with dry food.

Bag of Mixed veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots)

3 fresh sweet potatoes (sometimes add some canned pumpkin as well)

    3 lbs ground beef

Can of peas or green beans

    Some coconut oil + turmeric

Toss it all in the instant pot and then mix in a couple cups of cooked rice after.

Lasts about 2 weeks when mixing it in with dry food and very cheap to cook, $40/month tops.

Only mix with dry because I was worried he wasn’t getting all the omegas and vitamins he needed, he seems to have much more energy since starting to cook his food. Eats every piece of dry food that it touches as well.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that this was an attempt at being humorous. That you had a terrible lapse in judgement and did not actually mean to insinuate that I feed my son dog food.

To be fair, "Merrick buffalo and sweet potato" doesn't sound like dog food. I thought it was funny.

You guys may want to look into the growing reports from legit news that grain free and the use of peas and pea protein causing some serious issues. It seems to boil down to newer high-end foods using "exotic" ingredients to replace corn and wheat, the crazy thing is that corn and wheat was a safe filler but almost zero health benefit. Now filling the dogs up with stuff they never ate before might be killing them. Now wife is shopping for pea free dog food.

Pea protien is one of the things that causes my dogs face to swell. He's an extreme allergy case, but I'm sure peas aren't in a dogs natural diet.

It's really hard to say what would be considered normal diet for dogs nowadays.

I usually think, what are the zookeepers feeding their dogs? Then get as close to all meat and bones as I can afford. No kids here so my dog is pretty pampered in the food department.

We feed Merrick too. Very happy with it. We have labs and a Blue Lacy (great damn hunting and running dog). I fear Merrick may only be available in Texas.
