V8 engine option. Preferably a 5.7 variant. I would like the styling to not change too much. Current truck looks very nice IMO. Maybe move closer to 3rd gen Tacoma styling if possible.

Long time lurker, first time poster! Pretty much a combo of what everyone has said before.

    1) Multiple engine options: v8, v6 TT, v6 TT Hybrid
    2) Crewmax with longer bed options: 6ft min, 6.5ft even better
    3) 8sp or 10sp transmission
    4) Higher payload than current model
    5) Higher towing capacity than current model
    6) Better fuel mileage than current model
    7) Typical Toyota reliability

For me this truck doesn't need to be a "world beater". It doesn't have to have the most power in class, the highest payload, best fuel mileage, most tech, etc. I just want it to be very competitive in every metric. More so than the current gen is. I currently drive a 2018 Tacoma and will be looking for something bigger the end of this year or next. If the Tundra hits most of the above then it will most likely come home with me.

    - Plastic interior that doesn’t scratch so easily
    - diesel option
    - locking rear diff
    - automatic up and down power windows
    - keep whole rear window being able to be lowered
    - 4WD system that engages/disengages MUCH faster

How much faster do you want the 4wd drive to be? When moving if you let off the gas, hit the switch, give a little tap to the throttle and the 4wd engages. Takes about a second from twisting the dial to being engaged. Same process for disengaging.

It feels like the Tundra system is much more robust than the others I've used, those I'd hear gear crunching the odd time using similar processes. I'll take a longer process but better gear meshing all day long.

a V8, first-gen double cab size (externally and rear seats), and no Toyota Safety Sense or Flex Fuel anything.

Also a manual 4wd lever rather than an electronic button and a manual transmission if we're going all it with things that will never come true.

So basically not getting any of that haha

Design it to last for 26 years or more in a third world country.

And way down below that somewhere is cargo capacity.

Maybe when you are driving, not when you are standing still just waiting for it to engage before you go off road. I’m not even going to mention how long it takes for low range!!

Mine is very quick. Maybe because I test both 4Hi and 4Lo every month?

I’m jealous, I use mine much more than once a month and it’s anything but quick.

Agreed; I actually asked about this @ the dealership. I've noticed that if I let off the gas for a moment or two (as in a literal second or so), it'll switch right over to 2WD/4WD. If I'm actually driving, giving it gas, etc., it sort of 'waits' for the right time. I'm totally fine with that; I'd rather have it 'wait' for the right time instead of just forcing it in there.

Been a while since I used the Tundra 4Lo, but I've never had a truck be quick for 4Lo. I'm so used to waiting that I do some other fiddling with something out of habit.

Maybe you want how I have to engage the 4wd in my Ford work truck - I have to get out and lock the front hubs lol.

Engine options- V8, turbo, hybrid. As well as 8 or 10 speed automatic transmission

better mpg/towing- maybe in the 16-17 city and 20-21 highway. Slight uptick in towing/payload to like 12,000lb towing and 2,000lb payload.

Updated interior- I’d be happy if they updated to what the current Tacoma’s are like. Push button start, apple carplay, wireless charging pad, projector/led lights, better info reader in dash, power folding mirrors. I know some of these things you can get in a tundra but let’s make them more of a standard item.

basically just update the truck in general and make it modern. I think they did awesome with the Tacoma except the engine/tranny combo not driving like a “truck”

Well the pricing of the Tacoma didn’t change much with the 2016 overhaul. I know some of those things I mentioned will be on certain trim levels only. As of right now I’d just like to see some things dropped down a tier. Like LED/projector headlights on everything except base models, maybe power folding/tow mirrors added to the tow package etc. my Tacoma was a TRD off road with no extra packages and it had a lot of these features.

It would actually get to a point where it would be cheaper to have the base model get better options - no need to specifically make halogen light housings for a low volume model. I'd say the wireless charging pad and power folding mirrors would be trim specific, but the other stuff should be standard across the board.

Yep I can agree with that. I’m just basing my wants off of the Tacoma I had haha. Either way an update is long overdue and well needed.

I hope they don't make the interior of the SR5 too fancy or put any of those "soft touch materials" in it. I'm sure they'll have to gussy up the Platinum to compete with the F150 Limited and Ram but at least give me a truck I can use and abuse.

We took our dog for a walk in a natural area today and he got filthy so, even though I put a towel down on the seat, I still had to wipe mud off the inside of the wife's Corolla. Luckily, most of the interior of the Corolla is hard plastic but there are some spots of carpet in the doors that may never come clean.

For the longest time I was just 'meh' about the interior of the TRD OR, sure I'd like a softer console cover and softer elbow pads on the doors. Then we got a large dog - I'm glad both of those are not soft materials now. I don't want to think about how much my 120 lb dog would have ripped up the center console mostly, he LOVES to ride with his hind legs on the back seat and front paws on the console - there's so many muddy footprints on our consoles now lol.

So now I don't care too much how soft it is, it just has to be durable and cleanable - something I think most dog owners and parents can agree about.

Reliable, long lasting, engine and drive train. Actually if it lasts as long as my 2001 with the same amount of problems I would be very happy.

Less chrome, less flash and I do not need all the interior bells and whistles.

Suicide doors on the the access cab if they have one.

Crew cab, 6.6ft bed, good looking column shifter, rear roll down window, part time four wheel drive, 38 gallon tank, spectra blue mica exterior color, beefed up 5.7l v8 (more torque and horsepower), and for God's sake keep it simple! Haha!

    I have a '16 so:
    - Better radio/UI and sound
    - Better rear camera (the 4runner is clearer)
    - Better shocks/front lift
    - Some kind of storage under the back seats
    - No interior/dash chrome -- for that matter no chrome anywhere)
    - Better mileage (np if not)
    - Factory or dealer option to "mean-out" wheels, mirrors, whatever else

    You mean 6.5.
Which other manufacturer currently offers this? I thought the TRX and Raptor had 34s.

Wait, did I miss it, or has someone already mentioned a 38 gallon fuel tank in which you can actually use all 38 gallons? :stirthepot:
