2022 Lexus is bringing back the 5.0 V8 with 472hp and we are still stuck with a V6 turbo ☹️

Did you see the RPM’s to get that HP? Or how low the torque numbers were?

TTV6 power curve, especially torque, STOMPS on NA V8’s.

    1) Less Oil Leaks.

    2) Less Noisy Engine.

    3) Move up from 2 Grocery Bag Payload Bed Capacity into 3 Bags at the least.

    4) Zero planned obsolescent technology and nannies.

    5) Sleeker Styling of the bloated front hood.

It was 7100rpm for peak power which is really high and only 395lb of torque, yes ttv6 would kill the 5.0 from a towing stand point..

Same engine with different exhaust manifolds and cam specs would be a great truck engine....as long as it had a turbo :)

Crewmax (or bigger than double cab rear seat) + 6.5’ bed and I’m a buyer. I don’t care what motor is in it - it’s going to have Toyota reliability behind it.

    A bunch
This basically sums up what I think a lot of us are at. There's 2 things the current Tundra doesn't have - fuel mileage and the CM 6.5' bed. Most of us don't have fuel mileage high up, but bed space is huge (I own a DC, take 1 guess why). My priorities have changed so I would deal with a 5.5' bed if I had to, but I'd much prefer not to - it's a huge draw for going the HD route. Yes you can get a 6.5' bed Ford crew cab - but then it's a Ford and it's a special build so say goodbye to the huge discounts. And for those concerned about the length, park at the back of the parking lot and it's not a big deal - I've driven a dually 1 ton through city centers, take your time and you get used to the size.

I would most like to see a 3/4 or 1 ton version, possibly even available as a cab & chassis.
How many people here who have to drive one of the big three for work wouldn't rather have a full size Toyota with a utility bed and enough capacity to tow a skid steer or other equipment.

I respect what you and many others want to see, a HD Tundra, but I highly doubt Toyota will ever do it. Financially it does not make sense to spend millions to build the chassis and what not to only sell 75k vehicles. Most consumers will,in the US, will lean towards the big three for HD use. And I feel Toyota knows this. Despite what other feel the Tundras rates are damn respectable for the comfort and size you get. You don’t need to be the biggest guy in the gym to be the toughest. I would never tow the amounts that the big three 1/2 ton claim because physics NEVER fails. 12k weight is 3/4 ton territory...

And Toyota has HD trucks under the Hino name. Granted they don’t sell pickup trucks...

I've been lurking around this site for a while because I'm in the market. From what I've read, I fall squarely into the "mall-crawler" category, as I don't need much towing or payload capacity. However, I live on a cul-de-sac in Michigan, so If I ever have plans to leave my house after a good snowfall I need some ground-clearance and 4WD. That said, I'm hoping for the following in order of importance:

    1) Better interior materials (including ditching those silver plastic pieces on the dash)
    2) Better MPG
    3) Heated steering wheel (heated seats would be nice to avoid going aftermarket)
    4) Decent ride with no bed-bounce
    5) No more than 1 fake hood scoop

If they can deliver that, I'm all in for the new model. BTW, great site! I've learned a ton.

Sounds to me like you're a candidate for a 4Runner.

I have to agree with @Cpl_Punishment...you would be much better served with a 4Runner. It’s covers your one through five. Was not impressed with the towing but it did it’s job.

I've always chosen SUV's in the past, and bought a utility trailer for hauling dirt, etc. The next vehicle I would like the convenience of just being able to throw that kind of stuff in the bed. Plus the Taco was a little small for the family.

As Canadian resident i purchase my Platinum for $52,000. If this truck is $70,000 like the new Rams are then i'll happily guzzle gas with my current rig until it dies.

I kinda did the same thing. I went from a 2012 Tacoma double to to 2017 4Runner because I needed more rom with two car seats. I was NEVER an SUV guy but it was a great truck. Then I had to get rid of it because of severe paint issues at 2 1/2 years old. I was actually going to get another 4Runner but with a commuter car I didn’t care about gas mileage. And the Tundra is the best out of all the Toyota trucks in my opinion. The positives for my and my usage far outweigh any negatives the Tundra has. As old as the platform is, I simply love it. And really don’t want to see it changed that much...

I'm sure you're correct about the economics of a HD Toyota, I just want one. I would even take a cab and chassis tundra with nothing more than frame stiffeners in the rear and stiffer springs with a higher DoT gross capacity.

I'm hoping for 2 things with the new tundra. I'm hoping the crewmax has the same size bed. That way I can swap my sliding bed cover to the new truck. I don't like buying the same accessories every time I get a new truck. 2nd I'd like the new design to come with a driver's side grab handle. The A pillar will be different with a new cab design. Which means we won't be able to order one and add it ourselves.

    1. NOT BE SMALLER - Rumor because of the new platform state it will be smaller. Toyota, you tried that with the T-100 and it was a massive fail.
    2. NOT HAVE 4RUNNER TACOMA FRONT END - This is a full size truck which means its for working men. The Tacoma is perfect for little sisters and millennials. Please let the Tundra continue to be a truck for people who work and pay taxes.
    3. HAVE A HD VERSION

Looks like most of the ones in Alberta are between $65k and $68k, though there is one listed for $80k.

I can't find a 2021 tundra locally to check but if that is the case then my mind is officially blown. I like my truck but it isn't worth 80k new
