I am not sure it will happen next year. I thought sales would have at least normalized by now but here we are a year later. I am excited to see it all unfold.

Not sure this counts, but I WILL be towing it, so...

Sunday, assuming the weather cooperates, I'm going to be running over to Maine and towing a Duo-Art player piano home with my Tundra and Karavan trailer. I'm totally psyched; been wanting a player piano of my own for decades.

Ours is a 2003 International CCD. We searched the used market for two years before we found it a few miles from our house. Seller wanted to be done with it. We've had it for eight years now and it's worth more than we paid for it. It's an awesome trailer and perfect for our family.

Airstream started modernizing the interiors in the early 2000s, so it has a nice modern look, but without the weight of newer Airstreams. Light and small enough to fit into tight sites. Until the Tundra, I towed it with my Tacoma.

This is what makes the RV campground rules about not allowing trailers older than 10 years really ridiculous, lol.

This along with many other things!
My Casita has looked and been built about the same since the first Fiberglass Trailers made in the early 60's really so what is the difference to a CG how old it is?
I have never really understood this one.

I towed an 18' car-hauler 432 miles yesterday. Picked up a 10' pallet of T&G lumber 175 miles out, then a ton of cattle minerals 200 miles away, followed by 250 lbs. of stain and screws. Did a circle route crossing the Divide twice. Had to stop for bighorn sheep once...then another herd on the right with an elk herd on the left...all within baseball-throwing range.

Last Monday I towed a 6600-lb. skidsteer + 600 lbs. of Qwikcrete 50 miles to a jobsite so we could drill 4 augur holes for 6x6 deck posts. Done & loaded in 2 hrs. Tuesday hauled the crew back to build the deck, towing a 20-ft. job trailer stacked 3-ft. high with lumber and trex decking. Another 100-mile haul!

I can change my clothes standing up.

I do like teardrops but they lack a ton of functionality that even the smallest travel trailers have.

Agreed (e.g. bathroom) but having flexibility and mobility really works out well for me - and it only cost $3k.

Very nice setup. Where is the tundra though?

I have heard several stories like yours. Lot's of people are using these for a decade or two and breaking even or selling it for more than they purchased it for. I won't get rid of mine until I can't camp anymore and it should easily out live me or anyone else that is alive today.

How is your clear coat? I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a 23 or 25 for the in-laws.

im into mine for about $3k as well and it goes places even the smallest TT would not dare.
I camp to be outside, my lil camper is only a dry, flat place to sleep.

They definitely have a few key advantages. If I lived out west I would consider one. Around here camping happens in campgrounds and state parks. Our "BLM" land has smooth gravel to the primitive camping areas.

I'd never go someplace with stupid rules like that. Probably be as bad as living in a HOA neighbourhood.

Mine has never seen a commercial campground except in Yellowstone. Typically in places where no one else is within a half mile.

That is awesome. I think that would be a ton of fun. Building one is on my bucket list once I have the time to go spend the summer in the mountains.

I'm not giving mine up. When I'm done with it, my son will get it. He's been camping in it since he was 3.

Only clear coat issues I've had was when the solar panels were installed, someone put a ladder against it. And the tree branch scratches. It's outside under the tree year round and I don't worry about the small scratches anymore. 22' and it will get some scratches.

Where is it they have rules against the age of campers? I’ve never run into that. Is the tow vehicle part of the equation or just the camper?

Just the camper. If you are making reservations and it asks for the age of your camper there may be restrictions. I think it's more common in the West.

I attached an article that goes into the rule below. Last summer we scouted out a great COE site and booked it for a week. When we showed up there was a pool of motor oil on the pad probably 10x10 ft. I'm not talking about a stain. A pool of oil. Luckily they had a less desirable spot available. It's just one of the reasons listed in the article.

Idaho springs' only rv Park has that rule. Why are you guys so snooty out west?

You guys know the real reason behind the rule right? Most rvs are starting to get pretty ripe at 15 years. That is about when a camper starts to fall apart and fail.

    Homework
Go to rv trader. Sort travel trailers by oldest year. How many pre2006 campers are for sale? How many newer than 2006?

    It's usually about 1 in 10.

I hope to hand mine down to my niece. That is a life changing event.

Out again this weekend. In the past we haven’t gotten out till summer. It’s been a lot of fun and the kids have been having a blast camping.
