So you pulled this with the taco? I bet it screamed at you the whole time. Nice looking setup.

Thanks man! Yeah, last trip home we were facing a decent headwind and I had the Taco at 4,000 rpms just to maintain 50 mph. It was rough. That trip pushed us into the Tundra. The trailer is nice but it is so high that it acts like a parachute.

I try to tow whenever I can. Generally it means that we are having a good time.

WOW, that's a pretty heavy tow... did you add a transmission cooler?

Is the factory brake controller really that bad?

I am planning on selling my single axle and getting a tandem with trailer brakes, I have read bad things about the factory one

Just stuff saying it barely does anything... I am pushing the limits of my trailer almost every time I tow with it... it would be nice to load more and have better piece of mind, that and stopping on the highway in Houston traffic with 3500 pounds behind me using just the truck brakes...

I can lock the brakes on these at will, loaded, with the manual gain.
Set controller properly and the trailers stop themselves and the truck.

My factory one worked great also. Travel trailer was about 7,500#, gain set to 6 gave me a great balance.

Finally got a chance to go out camping this weekend. Very happy with the way the Tundra towed and I averaged 10 mpg! going about 65-70 mph 20210410_194936.jpg IMG_20210410_144357_123.jpg 20210410_194846.jpg

I like the patio on that thing, but it's huge! Any idea what your loaded hitch weight is?

Its pretty damn big! honestly I didn't want go this big initially but my ATV's wouldn't have fit. I'm told that the hitch weight with full cargo capacity is at 785lbs but I will need to go get it weighed to confirm

Please do check the weight at the Cat scale with the ATVs and make sure you've got 10%-15% on your hitch. Tow safe!

I just about had a heart attack when my local Toyota service shop tried to tell me over the phone that my max towing on a 2020 Crewmax SR5 is 7000 LBS. I took it in because I got a new travel trailer (within the 10K towing spec) and got a Transmission temp warning when I got it home. Guess it's time to get the transmission cooler, and change service centers. I pick the truck up in an hour, and the service person wants to meet with a tech to go over specs. They said I shouldn't have been told my capabilities are 10K when it says 7K on the sticker inside the door. :facepalm:That's the GVWR of the TRUCK!

Yeah , pretty sure that is what caused it to overheat.
I still would add the cooler if I am towing anything above 6000lb
