I'll play. 2020 Grand Design 2800BH. After 5100/5160 at all 4 corners it towed like a dream last year. 9mpg at 55mph, 7.5mpg at 65mph.

Taking the beast in for service before summer. First time towing since adding the leveling kit. There was definitely some sag in the rear, thinking about adding some Timbren Bumpstops. Has anyone used them before?

I went with Firestone ride right airbags pulling my mastercraft. My brother has the bump stops on his Chevy and when it's not loaded they tend to bounce off of the bump stops giving you a bouncy ride.

I lost all my photos recently but I tow a 8k pound 28' travel trailer and a Phoenix 721 bass boat.

Get a blazing 6 mpg with the camper behind me and a super efficient 9 mpg towing the boat. Boat could be better but I have a tendency to be in a hurry to hit the water. Something about pulling almost 5k pounds and 80mph on 34's doesn't help fuel economy.

Not Timbren, but I have the Black Sumo Springs (1500 lb capacity) and they have worked out great for me. Sag was greatly reduced with my 27ft TT. I also have have the HD Roadmaster Active Suspension on order to beef up the back end which should definitely help and am thinking about replacing the stock shocks with Billstein 4600's.

I am new to the TT pull and find that I have some sway with my recurve r3. On those larger TT , such as the 28 and 30 footers, what WDH are you using? Thanks

I have a Grand Design 2800BH - 32' total length at about 8000k lbs. I'm also running the Recurve R3, 800lb bars, with zero issues.

That said, I've tuned it it all at the scales and our packing is a very repeatable process so there isnt much variantion from the scale work.

Assuming your tongue weight is good, make sure you are cranking down the anti-sway bolt. We do hand tight and then 1/4 to 1/2 turn, depending upon conditions. I've forgotten to tighten it before and it was immediately noticeable, so I make the walk of shame at the nearest exit.

I should have added that I have a Forest River Rockwood 2506 at 5200 dry and 720 tongue weight. I adjusted the recurve and now am dipping 1” in the back and 1 1/4 in the front, so I like the weight distribution. I have not done anything more than pulling it to Flagstaff from Phoenix, some good hills there. Hope I get used to hearing that 5.7 reving in the 3800 range, she do scream!

Sorry this is such an old post. Got the same truck. It feels pretty slow pulling even a lightweight car hauler flatbed (16 foot deck, 1650 empty). Truck has 33’s (285/75-r16, technically a 32.8, LT 8 ply tire) but I cannot really tell a difference in power compared to stock when towing. I can tell a difference when empty, but when towing it feels the same as stock. Yeah it’ll do it, both legally and physically, but I feel like either I’m missing something or I gotta be more patient. Probably the latter. What was it like pulling grades with your toyhauler? What state are/were you in towing that trailer? What speeds were you able to hold up the grades and did you have any heat issues/brake issues? Sorry, so many questions. I come back to this forum just to stare at your truck pulling that toyhauler!

Edit- whoops, quoted the boat. Not the toyhauler. But I wouldn’t complain about hearing how she pulls the boat too.

Nice class C. Things have changed for us so we might ditch our travel trailer and get a Class C later. My parents have one we can borrow till then. I like the idea of towing something fun with it vs just pulling a trailer.

update us when you seal the roof. Ours seems to be holding up in the short time with have had it on. Someone is going to get a full remodeled camper when we sell ours lol

Thanks.... we have had different setups.... truck with a shell and tent.... toy hauler trailer ....big class A Rv. I really like the size of this class C....25 ft tip to tail. Easy to park.... plenty of power. Works well for us. Desert season is just about over, so some much needed exterior detailing is in the works. Roof is on the list.

I'm also considering a motor home down the road partly to get back into a smaller truck. Is the class C more work and maintenance than your TT was? I keep hearing about problems with leaking roofs, but it seems like it would be similar to a TT.

I haul this sucker around a few days a week for my plates, poor thing. 3500 pound axle, it weighs about 700, and in the load in the picture I had a bit over 3200 in metal on there... I am trying to not go over 2800 since then. I really need to sell this trailer and get a tandem.
I do have bags in my garage I need to install.

Some are built better than others. Do lots of homework prior to a purchase. Maintenance is an ongoing thing with any TT or RV.

When I got my 2012 5th wheel, purchased new, I cleaned up all the caulking on the roof and applied Eternabond over every seam, still holding up great. It's pricey but worth it.

I hooked up my Ibex 20BHS to the Tundra for the first time this afternoon. It towed and stopped great. Very glad to have upgraded from a Tacoma to a Tundra.
