Downside of a motorhome is you have to pack up your whole camp if you want to go anywhere or tow a small car with you.

It costs a lot more $$$ to get a good Class A or C motorhome vs a travel trailer, especially if you already have the truck for towing. If you are having to tow a car behind your motorhome anyways I’m not sure if it would be much easier.

Agree 100%. If you have a fullsize truck already, definitely buy the trailer

That's my issue. I don't already have a truck capable of pulling anything bigger. Right now though, I'm happy with my 22 ft TT. It will depend on if my wife has to go bigger and better. No doubt the motorhome is more $.

What kind of gas mileage you get pulling that? Also which model is it.

Big fan of the 243. Here in MD the natural resources police switched to these boats. They must be tanks! Always heard good things about them. Nice truck too!

Yea . They are tanks. Very well built. This boat weight is almost twice as much as my old boat . Truck is great also plan on keeping them both for a very long time.

Had to pick up my tractor from the dealer. This is max towing for the tundra. I plan on doing a thread of my thoughts on max towing. Let’s just say if I had to do this all the time or every weekend I would be upgrading to a 3/4 tonCA64618C-5696-4651-A2C6-43396F9E25E0.jpg 8349D04E-5735-4D51-89E8-D6D31CEA33BC.jpg F06260B8-0638-4A40-87B9-7D83C7DCFBA3.jpg

it doesn't look like your truck is sagging at all. Does your trailer have brakes?

Trailer has brakes but I added the Roadmaster active suspension heavy duty kit. It’s makes a world of difference with squat. After some adjustments with the hitch I got everything to sit almost dead level. The truck pulled well but stopping almost 10k lbs is not a lot of fun

I see your point. 10K Lb's can be tough to stop with a 7300Lb +/- truck.

Heading out tomorrow to meet a friend at the airport. He had trouble on the way last week, made it to the parking lot in limp mode and was in a hurry to catch his flight. Hopefully it will start and get on the trailer under its own power.

Just got back from my second trip and am very pleased with how the Tundra towed this. Even got some high winds on the way home today and with the Husky TS it handled no issues. Very excited for our Yellowstone trip. Not too excited about the 9.4 MPG but thank goodness I have the 38 gallon tank!! My bank account may not be thankful....

How do you manage getting 9.4 mpg out of your truck? were you going down hill the entire time :D I was only able to get 7.9 from mine in Iowa! nothing but flat land! I'm scared of what the MPG's will look like when I tow it up the mountain :notsure:

I got 10 mpg towing about 6 k through the mountains and doing interstate speeds. Texas to Utah about 75mph all the way.
I towed a 5 k total load enclosed trailer from Texas to utah through the mountains and got 10 at 70-75mph most the way. 33 in tires on 20s

A good majority of freeway was flat but there are a few uphills. When we went to the Sierras, I averaged about 8mpg with our little rpod. So I'm figuring when we go to Yellowstone a majority should be flat land. Fingers crossed....

I get like 9-10 mpg towing my boat. It's not that heavy (5-6k lbs) but it has a decent amount of windage. I've posted pics of it here before

(most)Enclosed trailers, boats and cars just don't have the same drag that these giant box trailers have. It's like towing a brick and a sail at the same time in all the worst ways. Most trucks and trailers have a certain speed where the mileage will just tank. If you pay attention you can find that speed and drive just below and get ok mileage. Some trailers are more aerodynamic than others so if you want to drive fast look at those.

Guys who tow travels trailers and other heavy stuff: how long did your stock shocks last? I towed my boat for the first this year and my shocks felt tired. Just over 66k miles on my 14 crewmax SR5. Boat is my heaviest regular tow at around 6k lbs. Front feels fine. Rear gets a little bouncy on big bumps and lumpy roads. I do have a trd rear sway bar.
