Just got back, the truck did good. Not a fan of the trd suspension for towing, or the weak sidewalls of the 18's. My old platinum felt way more planted over rough terrain and in sharper corners. Nothing i couldn't handle, just took it a little slower than I used to

Yeah the suspension is a little squishy when the tongue gets pushed down. But feels extra light in the rear when the tounge gets lifted. Then the issue with the tires is that going into sharp turns at speed. You can feel the trailer pushing the rear around.
I did check my WDH the truck only squats 3 inches in the rear, and the front stays the same measurement.
I am thinking about doing a leveling kit, with the bilstien shocks, from what I hear the truck feels more planted with the new shocks. Then upgrade tires and wheels for less sidewall and stronger sidewall.
Also I know that this camper puts right at, maybe a little over capacity

    Tastefully enhanced...
If I'm towing a trailer with weight or a boat, I put an additional 300lbs in the bed to mitigate the disconnected feel with the TRD suspension...a local suggested that and I do it each time I tow...makes for a MUCH more controlled haul! Get some 10ply tires and you won't feel the squish as much and that will increase stability...preaching to the converted, I'm sure...

I was thinking of doing 6112 and 5160. Upgrading just the tires seems to be the first step. I convinced my father to do the 10 plys with his 07 sr5. He said it made a noticeable change. So I may just start with them first.

I am thinking that t he 10 plys are the way to go, thanks.
As for extra weight in the bed, I am already at or over gvw when towing. Not sure adding more would work for me. But maybe when I tow something that doesn't max me out I will try that.

Had the duratracs on my old platinum, they were great, other than they didn't have great traction in the light snow. Were awesome in deep snow

Better check your tongue weight, looks to me with full water, propane, and cargo your are pushing about 1,100 lbs on the rear end. I towed a Nash 26X , trailer weight was 7000 lbs dry, loaded the tongue weight was 1,200 lbs, had to put airbags on my ford 3/4 ton truck.

Just spent this weekend in Ouray. One of our favorite places to go.

And, NOOOOOO, I would never tow anything over the 550 out of there. WAY to creepy.

We drove out of there during the winter one time (not towing). Once was enough.

Little know secret. Get a boat you can stay/camp on and drop in Bridge Bay Marina on Yellowstone lake. Getting a slip is pretty much a non-issue during peak times and it's only $28.50 a night.

NOT at Yellowstone but easy to spend a week or longer on this.

Yes, I saw quite a few of them and this was the overall winner. I’ll definitely be waiving, thanks for the heads up. Be safe.

Yes, I saw about a dozen different ones and this one was on top of our list. So far we love it.

Nice trailer. We have a 2670MK and love it. Great floor plan especially with the desk in the rear. Tows great behind the Tundra.

Now that takes balls. I don't drive the Million Dollar highway without a trailer behind me.

Thanks! We’re excited about our Imagine, I’ve heard many good things about it. So far it’s been a great trailer. I’m going to take a long drive to Grand Canyon soon and hopefully everything goes as planned. Oh, and yes on the towing part, the Tundra does great pulling it.

If the WDH is set up properly it should transfer more weight to the front- your rear should not be squatting 3 inches with a WDH. I would expect less rear squat and a little dip in height on the front. You should also be running higher air pressure in the rear tires than you normally do. And to help tighten up the truck in the rear you may want to consider adding the TRD rear sway bar.

That's what the guy in the office at Ridgway State Park said. I had no idea. I've lived in CO for 23 years and never been down there. I was following instructions. Beautiful part of the state, though, for the part I did see.

I bet you don't make that mistake again. The first time we went to Mueller State Park I thought I was going the back way and ended up going through Deckers. Had to drag my trailer up and over a mountain on a barely 2 car wide dirt and gravel road. No guard rails no place to stop or turn around. On the way down with my truck in 4 low and in 1st gear even with the brakes on the trailer locking up the trailer still pushed me down the hill on the way down. Scariest drive I have ever made. I won't make that mistake again either.

I bet it didn’t take much to get the ol’ Law of Inertia in full effect. Damn shame. Good looking truck/boat combo.

If I recall correctly, my coworker had something similar happen when he got T-boned while towing his Malibu with his Tundra. Truck was totaled. Boat slid forward a bit and I think the trailer punched a hole in the front but I believe he was able to repair it. The worst part of the whole ordeal was he bought a Dodge to replace his Tundra.
