How do you like the can-am? What made you decide on it vs Polaris or others? Thanks!

Absolutely LOVE it. We decided on the Can-AM basically based on performance and price. I also like the longer wheelbase a lot better. We rented both for a couple hours before we decided and had more fun with the Can-Am. The ride is super smooth due to the FOX shocks it has, you barely feel any bumps. Climbs well, easy to control steering wise.

Appreciate the info. Definitely leaning towards the Can-am!

I live on a brackish estuary, so it isn't as bad. Especially during rainy years it is more fresh. I wet slip my boat now, but in years past when I was constantly dunking my trailer I was always fixing or replacing something.

Living 10 miles from the ocean would be amazing. I don't know if I could pass up fishing for pelagics at my back door all the time.

Question for you C-Dory owners: how do these boats require so little horsepower? I routinely see them with less than 100 hp, but they seem to move along just fine.

I agree with all of this 100%. Especially the part about owning something from new. When I bought something new is the only time I haven't had issues. I launch in brackish water, but I still wash everything after every trip. My boat is wet slipped now, so my trailer doesn't see as much use. Only 6 miles round trip to the ramp if I need to pull it.

The key to C-Dorys’ low HP needs is their weight and shallow dead rise. As you can see in the picture, the C-Dory has a nearly flat stern. This creates a “pad” that allows them to plane at very low speeds. I plane between 15 and 19 mph, depending on load. At a 20-25 mph cruising speed, I get over 5 miles per gallon. This is unheard of in a boat. Fully loaded with fuel, kicker, and supplies for a week, it’s weight is still below 2,600 pounds in the water. The interior is spartan to make it lighter, simple to work on, and easy to clean. It’s a great all weather boat and economical to operate!

It looks like a fantastic boat to explore protected waters. I see what you mean about the flat stern. Very little deadrise. Definitely would be fun to explore the waters of the PNW and do some salmon fishing.

I have a heavy center console with a big single outboard and a lot of deadrise. My best cruise is 3 miles per gallon at 28-30 mph. Cruising the Chesapeake comfortably for multiple days at a time requires something out of my budget. :)

    What @RedNecky says.

Looks like he has a 19' or 22' Angler model. Mine is the 22' Cruiser model with a 90hp ETEC on the back. Cruise speed is right about 21mph with a top speed of 30. Like him, I get 5mpg at cruise.

Great go anywhere boats but you definitely have to slow down and push the bow down when it gets rough.

Our 22 is the perfect size for me and the Mrs. to get away for a week or 2. Far from luxurious but very comfortable, and safe.

That's awesome. Don't need luxurious. Safe and comfortable are way more important. I see them occasionally on the Chesapeake, but only on calm days.

Pulls it great. Truck is rated at 10,100lbs and I’m probably maxing out at 7000. The in-line distribution hitch also makes for a smooth straight pull.

First tow with my new Tundra. It's a fiberglass mini observatory btw.

It was a light load but I was happy with the way it towed.

Firestone Airbags; remote starter; replaced stock mirrors with larger, pull-out mirrors for towing; hard plastic sectional cover for bed.
I love all the towing pictures! The Tundra is a BEAST! To protect my Rockwood camper, I have Rock Tamer flaps that sit on my hitch and keep all the rocks off the trailer when towing. After I got them, I noticed they would move up/down a few inches due to the hitch not being very snug so I have a Stowaway Hitch Tightener attached to the hitch which holds it snug and the Rock Tamers don't move at all.

I noticed most of you don't have the Toyota tow mirrors. My Tundra didn't either, so I got a pair of OEM tow mirrors from McGeorge Toyota online and had my dealer swap them out.....LOVE them! They extend when you need to tow and really making driving in traffic easier.

I still have the original mirrors in the boxes in the garage...they were only on the truck for about a year....I should look at selling them.

Roughly 5 yrs ago we where out with some friends I was on a 400 ex quad. My wife was riding in my buddies rzr we where climbing hills and I watched them or end over end about 5 times down a huge hill they where fine. Not a scratch on them but the rzr was totalled.

We have the 2800BH. Definitely wanted the bunk house style, only need to convert the couch or dinette to a bed if we have extra guests. I’m really impressed with the Grand Design quality, nothing else in this price range can match it.
