Not sure what the exact weight was but it was pretty heavy. Good think to mention about tundras is that 18 year old, 190,000 mile truck carried it 52 miles with no issues.

So I went out to storage to level my new RV and decided to see how the trailer weight affected the truck. I measured to the top of my front wheel wells then dropped the trailer on the ball without the WDH arms attached. It barely moved. Like 1/4 inch maybe. This trailer has a hitch weight of about 550.

@nuclearlemon , that's awesome! I saw your post before I noticed your username, and thus who you are. Didn't know you had a Tundra, but that figures. I'm new here but is a great place. Looking forward to hauling cruisers with my Tundra too!

    See you on mud!

Can’t even tell it’s behind the truck. I’d love to get a camper or boat now that I actually have a truck that can pull something.

The drop depends on what you tow. Need to see what is required for your trailer. All trailers are different.

Towing a 7'x12' dump trailer this weekend with my truck. I was going around the neighbourhood helping people remove fallen branches from a storm we had last week. Trailer weighs about 5000lbs TARE, with a 10000lb capacity. The heaviest I got it to was 7500lbs Gross. I did about 8 dump runs this weekend. Was at it for 16 hrs.

The truck drove absolutely fine. I could definitely feel the weight when accelerating, but as far as stability at speed, the big heavy Tundra (more like a 3/4 ton than a 1/2 ton amiright?!?) was absolutely stable and unaffected by the trailer.

If you are interested in an Airstream, read up on AIRFORM. We have a 1977 23 foot dual axle, they were made heavy at that time, 6400 pounds loaded on a year long trip. The design makes towing seam effortless.

I've heard of people running small side businesses with dump trailers. Typically these folks have 2500/3500's and diesels, so they can tow a much larger trailer. I've considered getting one of the 10k lb capacity ones and running small loads of material for people.

This was a tad embarrassing, had to tow this dingy 1,000 miles from Colorado to Texas.

Honestly, for that size of trailer, the Tundra was perfectly suited. I would have no issues using a Tundra to pull a loaded trailer of that size every day for business purposes. And when you consider that my truck is likely $20-$30k cheaper than a well equipped 3/4 ton diesel, well, it's an interesting value proposition.

For example, a SuperCrew F250 Lariat with the 6.7 diesel and 4x4 is $61 370 USD, while a CrewMax Tundra limited 4x4 is $42 120 USD. If all you're doing is running a small landscaping business, and you don't need anything more than a 10 000lb trailer, you really don't need to spend extra on the Super Duty, just get the Tundra. It will handle the load and do the work just fine.

These Tundra's are heavy beasts, and can therefore handle a heavy dump trailer better than you would think.

All you double cab folks are the same! Jk, I had a double cab prior to this one and bed space was perfect, but when we travel the dc was a bit tight.
