I have not got to pull this that often. Want to get it out more, been pretty chaotic since the move.

I tow a custom offroad dump trailer made by a local fab shop called Knuckle Busters. We use it to remove trash from wilderness and recreation areas across Arizona.

To all of you, THAT IS AWESOME!I love the video. I won't be towing anything quite that heavy, I ordered a 7X16 enclosed for my motorcycle/two 4 wheelers. I'll have the motorcycle and one 4 wheeler, or just the two 4 wheelers. I hope to pick the trailer up in two weeks. The trailer when finished will be in Willacoochee, Georgia. It's about 10 hours from the Virginia Beach,VA area. Not a big deal for me, I use to drive and repair the big trucks. I had the inside finished with the rubber coin flooring, ramp and all. The walls and ceiling are finished in white aluminum, easy to keep clean. I also ordered the Dexter torsion axles along with alloy wheels. I think it will be just fine.

Pulling the little Winnie drop is the same way, almost forget it is there....I have to remind myself when pulling it that I have a trailer behind me.

I'm not sure what your trailer weighs, a rule of thumb is. 10 to 15% of the trailer weight will be on your drawbar. 1,100 lbs sounds like an awful lot on the drawbar. Double check you calculations. A lot of folks tow with a 4X2, but a 4X4 is the way to go. Backing a trailer in on an incline can be tough at times, without that low gearing from the 4X4. The transmissions tend to get warmer much faster without low range. Always keep an eye on the transmission when maneuvering at a slow pace. There will be no difference between the two on the open road, other than the final gearing.

IMO, you should know your hitch weight before you commit, typically it will be between 10% to 15% of the trailer dry weight. Have you considered weather or not the trailer manufacturer has a light version or line up? Again, IMO you are pushing the weight limit and you may be able to find something similar in a lighter model. As an example, Take a look at the Highland Ridge Open Range Ultra light models
