To bad you didn’t live closer. I would let you take my 28’ TH out for a test run.

My shipping weight from Keystone was supposed to be ~6450 lbs. I went across the scales at 7200 lbs without even propane.

We also live in different areas, and I have never been over where you are at towing. It could be easy as pie for all I know.

We are FLAT. Beyond flat. I will generally be pulling in the eastern NC and SC area. With 1-2 trips a year into western NC or PA. I'm looking at a used TH for a really good price through a private owner. If in a year I determine it's just too much then I will downsize. The TH comes with a lifted golf cart...that will be staying.

MerCruiser MX 6.2L... Purchased new in 2005 and have had zero issues. Will cruise all day @ 50 fully loaded down with 80 gallons of fuel, gear, and people. Tops out at 62 with low fuel, by myself, cool water, etc.. Originally thought I needed the 496 MAG HO but I've never been disappointed with the 6.2.

So you have no issues towing this? I just purchased a trailer with the same specs as this one and just want to be sure I'm good.

The question is do you feel comfortable towing this? Will your truck handle this in an emergency? What will you do with a front blowout?

These are questions that don’t need to be answered on here, but in your head.

Towed our trailer for the first time with my Tundra this past weekend. Did a lot better than our old Navigator did. I know of a few things that I have to do to make it even better, air bags, tow mirrors, rear sway bar, and maybe a 2"-3" lift.

I have had no issues towing this since I bought it in Feb. I've pulled it on 13 trips since then with the longest trip being a 2000mi round trip. As @ColoradoTJ said there is a comfortability factor to pulling this trailer as it is a big long heavy beast and pushing the upper limits for this truck. I was skeptical at first but feel pretty comfortable now. I also chose to use the weight distribution hitch and air bags to give the truck as much help as possible.

I bet the trip to Moab was a fun one towing that big of a trailer. 7mpg?

Yea, that's about right. The tiny tank is really magnified at 7mpg. The dash miles to empty is way off too during towing. It doesn't recalculate worth a crap so what you see shown you need to cut that in half.

Oh I remember those days, 65 mph max and looking for fuel stations at 120 miles.

Yes to the electric brakes.. It’s going to haul my furniture and tools. I looked into having my household goods shipped and they wanted $7-10k.. Trailer was $3800, plus my extra fuel, still think I come out less than shipping stuff.. plus I have something to show for the money spent.

    Sweet looking trailer.

This is my plan. I’m thinking we are going to ditch the camper thing and get an enclosed gooseneck trailer...for the exact reasons you stated.

I got a good fall price on a 2018 Winnebago 2455BHS bunkhouse camper. 29 ft bumper to coupler, 5280 lb dry, 7000 GVWR. A couple short trips so far and the Tundra is doing great with enough power to keep moving with traffic on hills. Equalizer WDH helps a lot, but I still feel crosswinds more than I would like. Going to a CAT scale next weekend to make sure the dealer got the hitch set up right. I have a Tekonsha P3 brake controller on the way because the factory one is trash. Even with the new software update and the gain on 10 the truck’s brakes are doing almost all the work to stop.

Hmmm. I've had my new 35-foot Sport Trek out a few times now. Its about 7300 pounds the way I have it loaded out. At 7.5 gain on the factory brake controller, the trailer is actully slowing the truck down. You might want to check if your trailer brakes are set up properly.
