That's pretty cool camper, not much wind resistance. Like @ColoradoTJ said I would love to see pictures of the inside.

So far the only thing I've towed with my Tundra, a 2006 Sylvan 1600 Expedition.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
My brother's 2000 GMC Sierra, when it broke down. The alternator went bad and he drove it until the battery depleted.

Is that the T2850? Those are nice trailers. I'm hoping to get a Forest River on my next go around.

Holy crap!! I just looked at the Forest River Work & Plays and they no longer offer that 5th wheel toy haulers. I am actually a little pissed right meow.

Yeah, I looked at your floor plan and it is laid out nicely. I like the double bunks in the rear like that. Looks like your truck and trailer are set up properly. Tow safe and enjoy the weekend.

The next camper we get will fit a Jeep. I may just do a 30-36' GN deckover, take a camper and put it on top, use the rest for vehicle. Not sure yet.

Good question Jim. A motor coach is less friendly when it comes to camping off the trails we go to. Some of the places I have towed a trailer might surprise someone.

Second issue is not having a vehicle once we get to a destination. (I don't drive my Jeep on public roads)

I was looking into a FL M2 Sport for towing duties when retirement comes, but that isn't practical either....but it is tempting.

Coach needs insurance, and maintenance like a regular car, then you need a daily driver..ir the engine or tranny goes on the coach there goes camping...but with a TT setup if the tow vehicle goes..that's the only thing you gotta replace

Just got off the horn with the inventor of the Automated Safety Hitch dealie. Even though I'd be looking at closer to $12K by the time I'm done--plus the drive to TX to have it installed--I'm strongly considering it. If I can find the right 5th wheel toyhauler, then I think it's game on. As it stands right now however, I'm still looking at about a 31' bumper pull, but having the raised bedroom would provide for much better use of the interior space. Hmm...

    Here's their direct site-

I have a 30ft Shafta tow behind and tows very smooth with the es. I'm failing to see the safety in this mechanism when there's two pain junctions between the tow vehicle and the towed vehicle.. That's two opportunities for things to come apart and things to go really bad really fast..

I would be going a different route @Jack Burton, but you have to do what YOU think is best. Where I think you will fall short is you tow rating is still ~9800 lbs, and now you get to add the Safety Hitch to that number. I was looking at toy haulers as well, bare bones ones without generators that exceeded that rating very easily. I can't remember what size you want to purchase, and I'm not going to go back through 20+ pages to find out.

For me, I was never that attached to my Tundra. It was one of my best trucks of all time and put a smile on my face every time the motor turned over. In the end, I was asking to much of my Tundra and stuff started happening in a rather quick amount of time. If you don't have mountains to navigate and take it easy, I could see this working out for you. 13000.00 plus 28,000.00 (selling your Tundra outright) puts a healthy down payment on a bigger truck, and depending if you opt out of the diesel, most likely would have a new truck, all the capacity you would need paid off. Don't worry, these guys and gals are pretty cool about me swapping over to a 1 ton....

@xj2202009 , the Safety Hitch is no more than a converter dolly you see behind Tractor/Trailers pulling doubles/Triples. Totally safe. More maintenance....yes.

I just realized that I can't add. The Automated Safety Hitch would be more like $12K vice 13. Still $$$, but figured I should clarify. That includes the unit itself, the new receiver hitch for the truck (3-pt connection vice 1-pt), the 5th-wheel hitch, plus installation costs. Having looked at both the ASH and the TOW ALL (which is the one originally brought up in this thread), the ASH is a WAY better design.

12k vs 13k doesn't change my mind. So what size TH are you looking for again?

For a bumper pull, I'm looking around 30-31'. I'm just beginning to look at 5th wheels, so I'm not sure about that yet.

Picked up my 2014 Jayco Jayflight Swift 184BH out of storage yesterday to clean it up and de-winterize it. We keep it covered up in storage so it looked brand new inside and out after we cleaned it up yesterday. It's just me and my wife and 10 year old son and we really like this camper but will be looking to upgrade within the next year or so. Dry weight is 2,800 lbs and the Tundra obviously tows it very easy.
