I have been following the build thread. Love it! It's close to what I am hoping for. I love the look, but probably wont go that big for what I need...but then again if it works for what I need why not!

I really wanted to make it to T2S this year. I kept telling my wife it was a family event, but couldn't sway her :notsure: I know how it is, not getting to go off road. Born and raised in the Midwest. We don't have shit for places to go.

I have a 2010 Platinum CrewMax 4x4 with 140,000 miles, with the Bilstein 5100 shocks front/rear, and TRD front/rear sway bar.
I still can't believe how well my truck rides. Its like riding in a brand new truck! I know this sounds crazy, but it rides better than a 2019 Cadillac Escalade. LOL When someone rides with me, for the first time, they just look at me with the biggest grin on their face, because they can't believe how smooth my truck rides. I also love the compliments I get, every-time I go to a gas station. Someone is always starring at my truck for a few minutes, then they quietly walk over, and say.... THATS A NICE TRUCK MAN..... lol... half the time, I be thinking they are going to rob me or something. I'm TUNDRA for LIFE!!!!

What things do you like most about your tundra in general and over other options?

Tundra is a man's truck! It's old school with refinement. It's big. It's brawny. It's strong. It's fast. It's got tons of room. It tows. It hauls. It rides like a dream. The controls are where they ought to be and they work like they should - nothing fancy or froo-froo about them. Best TRUCK I've ever owned, and I've had more than a few.

    Features/options that I like?

    38 gallon fuel tank
    381 hp/401 lb/ft torque ('17 CrewMax SR5 TRD)
    Sliding rear window
    Cavernous center console
    Back-up camera
Back seat big enough for a family reunion
    Great looking 18" wheels
    Factory sprayed-in bedliner
    Exhaust rumble is "just right"

Nothing sissy about it - it's a TRUCK!

    Gary

F-150 back seat definitely bigger plus flat load floor and well designed mounting point for rear seat bottom that allows more storage.
Had an 18 "F" prior to my 19 Tundra.

Question; why the hell did "Yo" stop including the reclining rear seat on the SR-5 Crew? They used to have it when the model came out in 2007 to at least 2011.

The versatility. Bone stock (SR5 w TRD sport and tow package) it does everything I ask without even a hiccup. Last vehicle was an outback wagon, it was fine for mostly everything, but even light off-roading wasn’t good. That, and a 4200 (I think) lb car with 178 ponies on a good day made for a slug with passengers or heavy cargo. ALL HAIL THE V8!

    1) I get to enjoy my time and money modding it. Not wasting my life at dealerships for recalls and repairs.

    2) Just like my 2007 DC 2wd. It’s a turn key truck. It just starts and goes.

    3) When purchased in Jan 2017 my truck was $48,600 OTD. That’s almost $25k less than a 2017 limited F-150 or...less than 1/2 the price of a 2017 Raptor in SoCal ($90-100k) at the time.

    4) Layout. The interior was designed for tradesmen/contractors/service techs. Not hipster tech junkies. For example the handles feel...substantial but you can wear welding gloves and still open doors, turn knobs, dials, push buttons etc. I kinda like the fact there’s not 15 cup holders, Nooks, crannies n cubbies everywhere.

    5) Simplicity. These trucks ARE modern yet still simple enough for even novices to wrench on n modify.

I believe Swears talks about the migration away from seats that fold down vs “tip up” in a YouTube video about the first model year of the new gen, 2014.

I have been wanting a Tundra for damn near 6 years. 6 years of fantasizing about suspension, wheels, tires, light bars. Now, FINALLY, as of late March, I have my Platinum CM! I love the SUNROOF. I love the rolling down back window. I love the leather seats (they are so freaking comfortable!!). I love the power. I love the looks. I love the reliability. Put a garter belt on it and I think I might f..... Ooops. Sorry. I will pray for forgiveness for such evil thoughts.

Hopefully joining the family soon, as I have a deposit on a 2016 Platinum. Lifelong BMW fan with 3 in the garage, but I absolutely love Toyota trucks/SUVs. I've got a 97 4Runner with 300k+ miles and it's only needed the basics. The reason I'm getting a Tundra is (in no particular order):

    1) Reliability. I hope it's as awesome as the 4Runner has been
    2) Rear leg room. I love that the seats fold up, which is so much easier since I have 2 big dogs. Much prefer it to the Tacoma
    3) Roll down rear windows
    4) Comfort/Seats

Plan on holding on to this truck for a very long time. Whenever I'm in the mood for something sportier and with better gas mileage, I've got other options in the garage.
