Honestly, I don't know if they're all in the shop or just sitting on dealer lots. Dodges have been plagued with stuff but I don't think there's even enough Titans out there to test reliability, my freind's Titan is the FIRST one I've ever seen lol

It looks like if a semi truck crashed, the cab fell off, and landed on a couple of wheels...

What kept me away from the Titan was that 2.9? axle ratio with the Gas engine. :eek2: Also I heard bad things about the tranny too.

What’s wrong with the 5.3 GM? It’s not an exciting engine but I think it’s reliable. My dad got 230k trouble free miles from his 2002 5.3. His 2018 5.3 doesn’t feel much different from my 5.7 Tundra, tbh. Acceleration feels about the same.

Afm and lack of low end torque are my biggest draw backs.

    They can be reliable though.

When I looked at Titans I thought a 2.9 was crazy as well but I think there was they have the trans geared it makes up for it. Not 100% on that.

The 100k warranty is tempting and the price is crazy, I can pick up a new 2018 Titan sv for 30k. I still find myself looking but I to am unsure if the reliability, I'm not as hung up as other members because my Tundra had the stupid CTL and engine Torn down.

I just can't find enough good info on the Titan to get me to jump ship at the end of the day.

The 5.3 doesn’t feel especially gutsy, I agree, but I don’t think there’s much difference between it and the 5.7 Tundra in terms of towing or acceleration. Neither feels as quick as the 5.0 F150.

I must be the odd one out I thought the 5.7L Tundra was on par with the 5.0 I test drove before I bought my Tundra. 5.0 F150 had the 3.73s and both trucks were 18s.

I've driven a 2014 f150 work truck for four years, and while it's no slouch I'm pretty sure my 2015 5.7 will chew it up.

Both are 4wd, f150 is ext cab 5.0 3.55 gearing.
    Tundra is crewmax with 4.30s.

I have 100k 10 year warranty on my truck. I paid for it though. I think it was $1000-1200. I bought it because I was weary of all vehicles. All warranties have paid for themselves on my previous vehicles.

Maybe so. To me the 5.0 Ford seems faster and I think published 0-60 times near that out.

I will say, the Ford seems to get slower with more miles. Has 55k now...

We had a '13 f150 same truck but 2wd, and it ran really well.

Dodge with hemi seems strong too.

Well, I guess I need to respond since I just came out of my 2015 Tundra 1794 Edition and into a new 2018 Nissan Titan PRO 4X. My company got a fleet deal that the Toyota and Ford dealers couldn't match, and we didn't want the new Ram or Chevy so hence the switch over to the Titan.
    .
    First, my old Tundra:

    DSCF9801_zpsbnttgzlx_18b4b2b1321123abb241b18588b3d6b55bde3053.jpg

Since this is my Company truck, I am keeping my mods limited but enough to let me keep off-roading some. So I started with the PRO 4X edition since it is outfitted much like the TRD PRO. However, I can never leave good enough alone so I did replace the factory Bilstein off-road suspension with an ICON adjustable 3-inch coil-over suspension and ICON UCAs, and added 34-inch Nittos, Magnaflow exhaust, Retrax rolling bed cover, AMP steps, and other goodies.

    New Titan:

    edited-image_zpsyunykiv0_8d446ec50885c3dc4bcb8de2c5b9d3d61e1e9471.jpg

    edited-image_zpskpzh2tp8_349f46d603a41355f60e3f6e0f1c77a09bb78348.jpg

    So what do I think?

Design wise, I never liked the Tundra 1794 Edition front end so I was one of the first to immediately swap it out for the new TRD PRO grille and have it custom painted for my truck when that model first came out. However, I really don't like the Titan front end at all irrespective of model except in PRO 4X form it seems more tolerable (still, the exterior reminds me of my previous gen F150s). The two-color paint scheme works well in PRO 4X guise as there is limited bright trim. However, there is hardly any aftermarket for the new Titans compared to the Tundras (I had to fab up my own off-road light mounts as you can't even get a light bar for the non-XD models).

The interior on my Tundra 1794 Edition was very fine (if not a tad outdated) but the "top-line" JBL stereo seriously lacked any chops. Storage in the Tundra was very limited until I added the aftermarket locking aluminum under-seat storage system.

The Titan's interior is very Fordish/Ramish (I know, I had recent examples of those too) so a little outdated. But in PRO 4X, it is much more upscale with the top line option packages added as I have leather dash covering with white contrast stitching (very nice compared to my 1794 Edition's hard plastic cover) and the seats are embossed with contrast white stitching as well with nice PRO 4X embroidery on the seats too. The Titan infotainment system is very functional but also outdated; however, the Fosgate stereo system is one of the best factory systems I have ever heard with amazing bass response.

The Titan is also a slightly smaller truck than the Tundra (back seat area is fine but seems small compared to the Tundra). The Titan has more factory storage with lockable folding floor/storage bins under the rear seats and the rear seat backs fold forward to provide even more storage for gear. Road noise is actually very good, and PRO 4X floating seats far surpass my top of the line Tundra seats. Mine is fully loaded which includes cooled/heated seats and all the rest of 1st world luxury options so very comparable to the 1794 Edition (but with a better stereo). My camera system is much better than the Tundra with sharper images and even a birds eye view which is very cool.

My Tundra was reliable and solid even after beating it up some off-road and never had an issue; fantastic to drive over long hauls but sucked gas more expressively than any other truck I owned too...lol. The Titan gets much better mileage (but not completely fair as I built my Tundra up more with slightly larger tires and aftermarket wheels, aftermarket bumpers, winch, topper, etc. so it was much heavier). So far, no issues with the Titan but I have not beat it up yet. Having said that, the Nissan cannot match Toyota reliability. However, the Titan is actually more enjoyable to drive as the 5.6L V8 and 7 spd tranny provides more power down low and is more responsive across the board (very strong off the line) compared to the Tundra's 5.7L V8 and 6-spd. It is also more tossable than the Tundra as the steering is sharp and responsive; so again, more fun to drive.

Do I prefer my old Tundra? Yes, but only because I built it up and could beat it up and still drive to work every day. And it looked better. But I am enjoying the Titan and have to say it is more enjoyable to drive on a daily basis. Time will tell if it holds up and/or if I keep it.

I realize there is a reason for multiple styles and manufacturers as everyone has their own taste and opinion. Given that my opinion is there is nothing that can be done to ever make that Titan look anything near as sexy as that Tundra. Kudos to you good sir as that Tundra looked fantastic.

Thank you for the thorough review. I have to say—your company gets you nice trucks!

Your review of the Titan’s performance is what I figured based on what I’ve read and seen on YouTube. TBH, I love my 5.7 but the power has never blown me away.

I definitely had to work them for it! 3-36 wasn’t going to cut it for me. The minimum I wanted had to at least be covered for the length of my loan. I bumped it up a little :D

I would consider the gas engine in the Titan or Titan XD variant but would never consider that V8 Cummins as an option...

Love the detailed response DD. I too experienced that the Tundra's backseat is the biggest out of any truck I've been in. Somehow the Titan front end is growing on me...maybe I'm starting to lose it haha. Enjoy the Titan!

I've realized that the Tundra's power is more "natural" so to speak. Ya need to really stomp on the gas to get it to open up

I personally don’t care for the titan body style.

The titan’s front clip is just awfully misproportioned. When lifted on 35s it looks fine. But in stock height, the titan is just awkward looking from the side profile.
