Not in my shop, but had a Maple tree stump to dig out today. Took a couple hours of chipping away at the roots with backhoe before it finally gave up.20250525_124901.jpg 20250525_132519.jpg 20250525_143604.jpg

Had some new take out seats from a Ford F150, got a whole pallet of them during covid from a city auction. Decided to make something out of them, no big deal but they are WAY more comfortable than lawn chairs!20250528_124858.jpg 20250528_124910.jpg 20250528_121637.jpg 20250528_135524.jpg 20250528_135534.jpg

Bought a stump grinder for my tractor a month ago. It was shipped on a metal pallet, so I just added some caster wheels & it makes the perfect storage for when I'm not using the grinder. I can easily roll it into the corner of the shop & keep it out of the weather.20250703_144123.jpg 20250703_144131.jpg 20250703_155023.jpg 20250703_155033.jpg

Been awhile since I've posted any projects. I recently ran ethernet cable from house to the shop & set up my streaming box for full TV coverage & wifi.
Today I welded a hook on the back of my backhoe bucket to make it easy to use a chain for lifting jobs. 20250823_141812.jpg 20250823_141807.jpg

One of the clips that holds the slide to the drawer in my daughters bathroom came up missing. No one has any idea what happened to it.
I could not find anything close for a replacement so I took one of the existing clips and reverse engineered it. I made a 3D model in Solidworks and then 3D printed one. Worked perfect.

Our 2012 Rave 4 did exactly the same during last winter with exactly the same result, no 4WD. The shop fixed it.....how hard was it for you to fix yours?

(In the meantime, we drove the Rav 4 in winter as a front-wheel drive with little negative impact).

Finally a thread I can get behind!

    The shop is my home!.

Wife wanted to learn how to weld. Here she is making art!

Of course I cut out all the patterns on the CNC plasma table ahead of time.

    She a tack welding machine!

Installed an upgraded transmission in my rzr. First bolt snapped before reaching torque. Removed transmission and broken bolt. Reinstalled transmission.

Pretty easy, both O2 sensors are pretty easy to get to. One easily visible on top, & the other underneath on downpipe. Just recommend an o2 socket.

Dropping the body onto the new frame.

Prior to getting my flathead started, I used this 1953 Allen Syncrograph to dial-in the helmet style distributor I rebuilt. I bought the thing back in 2020 in Rochester, NY. It worked except one of the “strobe” lights was burnt out and the tach was out by a factor of around 3-4 for some reason, so used a cheap hand held unit.

Back in the shop today by force. About a month ago wife & myself were on a bike ride & I started to hear a loud tapping develop, more than the regular Harley valvetrain noise. Had a friend, who is a Harley Tech. Listen to it & he said "do not run it at all, sounds like cam bearing or lifter is gone.
Finally got it apart & sure enough, he was right, & unfortunately a common thing with the twin cam Harleys. Here's some pics from what came out of this babied 36K mile 110ci. StreetGlide.20251028_114739.jpg 20251028_114744.jpg 20251028_114750.jpg 20251028_114801.jpg
Luckily it was caught in time & didn't send metal through the rest of the motor. New cam bearings, cams, lifters, chains, tensioners & oil pump are needed, & she should be good to go after that.

    Chandler, AZ, not anymore :(
I need to buy a welder and learn how to use it. I've build few things using wood, but always had ideas for metal art/useful things.

Why have I not seen this thread? Love me some good goofing around shop builds. I'll have to dig some pictures up from a table I built out of a cedar tree I cut down.

    Yes, you do!

We got a pretty stellar thread over at Tacoma World for just this.

We we would love to help you choose a decent welding rig and help you dial it in.

Aight, grabbed some screenshots of the nonsense YouTube videos I made about it. Two stories in one. Wife's grandparents had a cedar tree the needed cut down. I cut it down and took some of it home with me. Wife wanted a behind the couch table. Cool, I've got wood let's do it. I rough cut a plank out with no guides from a log. I knew it would be terrible and not even so I cut it thick. Things came along and the project got delayed a hair. It dried out and got even more ugly. No big deal. Plenty of material to work with. Made a quick sled for the router and went at it.

During the routing bit, absolutely. Chips flying everywhere. Filled a 5 gallon shop vac up twice and naturally just dumped the bits into my pups dog house.

First ride down and it was smooth as glass. There’s so much more clearance with those new arms it’s ridiculous. And you can definitely tell the lower gears. 25mph in high is 5000rpm. 15mph in low is 5200 or so. High gear is now useable again. Just realized how much work I’ve done to this thing since June.

    Skid plates
    Winch
    Trailing arms
    Wheels bearings
    Transmission
    Lights
    Aux electrical system
    Secondary roller conversion
    Reverted back to stock muffler
    Reverted back to stock tune

This thing has never been smoother. I can’t wait to get it on the rocks in a couple of weeks.

Still tweaking the transmission shifter. I can get park but it doesn’t register on the dash unless I move the lever an 1/8”. If I tweak it to get that then I can’t get high. Think I’m going to take a die grinder to my shifter gates (EMP shifter) to get me just a touch more movement and then I’ll be good.

Pulled that POS fuelie. Found a donor 25 HP out of a Craftsman GT 5000 garden tractor.

Tractor had a blown hydraulic rear end, so I got the tractor for cheap.

25 HP Kohler for $40 is a steal.

That motor is going into the stand up zero turn.

Here it is hanging from the chain falls.

Tossed another coat of finish on a workbench I built for one area of the shop. 8’ x 30” x 3” thick top. Should handle some abuse :) this one is going on the automotive side of the shop. Will be building more for the woodworking side.
