do you use fake addresses for the forms? It says 1 per person/email. I,get using 3 emails as they can “verify” that easily. Not sure if they check addresss, etc?

you don’t buy all,6mat once? 2 per invoice?

Just bought 3- litre jugs. (Pennzoil ultra at Canadian tire) 38.99 each. 20 dollar gift card on its way and a bonus 4 bucks in crappy tire money.

this will allow for 2 oil changes on the tundra, or one,on tundra and one,on my wife’s Rav.

I've used my in-laws and parents address in the past, and will be using friends address for the ones I'll be buying tomorrow! Not sure why they won't allow more than one per household.

I guess, since, they email the card you can use different addresses. I’m surprised they don’t mail the gift cards.

do they run the pro mo yearly? Can you re apply for the gift cards or is it a one and done?

This is/was a yearly thing, I believe for Pennzoil. I've always been able to claim the rebate in the past couple years.

I had a good stack of Pennzoil UP for my Subaru, but used my last 5L jug yesterday and may as well stack up for both cars while I'm at it/on special.

I prefer Amsoil and have used that for several years without issues. Their Severe Gear gear oil is top notch stuff. If you use Amsoil, I suggest getting their annual or lifetime membership to save $. They have a distro center not far so I'm able to pick stuff up directly from them.

Ok, thanks! I use 0w30 for the benefit the 30 for towing and you wanna abuse it a bit more and I keep the 0 for Winter. I’m just concern as minimal as it looks if the 0w30 can cause any problem with the clearance of the engine!

I do it because it's a cheaper (save $30-50 in labor and I get to choose what oil I'm putting in. Plus if you change your oil at a lower mileage interval like 3-5k miles it will save a lot in the long run. The Nissan GTR head engineer even recommends doing oil changes at 5k miles and does not believe in these long oil intervals.

Probably continue what I ran in my tacoma, which is Castrol GTX Full Synthetic 0W-20.

ps i'm not super pumped about having to remove the skid plate for every oil change, but there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

Not sure one oil is significantly better than another. Modern oils are good. Use what’s recommended, and do it 2x as often as recommended.

Agreed. 5k miles between oil changes max.

Anyone who thinks the 10k recommendation is okay long term probably is also naive enough to believe Toyota’s claim that the ATF is “lifetime”.
Yea lifetime, until your automatic transmission takes a dump on you and that’s the end of your truck.

I’m using M1 EP with BG MOA. I’ll ditch the MOA next go around. Purchased the maintenance package up to 85K. With that said I do 5K intervals. One by me and one by the dealer. The dealer uses their bulk oil.

How good of records do you need to keep for oil changes you do yourself...just save receipts?

I have been saving the oil receipts, and writing the date + miles on them. I'll tear off the lid from oil filter box as well. I also keep my own Google spreadsheet log of everything done to the truck.

I've done my own at 660, 2000, and 5000 miles now.

(The 2000 was because of the glitter in the 660 oil)

I'll probably take the dealer up on the 2 free oil changes at 10k and 20k, but that's it. The rest comes down to my documentation.

I've heard of some on here that take pictures or videos mid-service. Seems excessive, but $20k engines are excessive.

The receipts thing can be tough, I maintain a few cars so I buy in bulk. Excel spreadsheet keeps the date, miles and work performed.
I also take a few pics of the oil change happening. Harder for folks to deny something when you have pics of it going on.
(the pics are of the odometer and somewhere in between where the materials are laid out and doing the job)

Install a Fumoto or ValvoMax, I use either one of those on all our vehicles and no need to remove skid plates anymore. I did have to cut a small "inspection" hole on our daughters VW Tiguan felt cover to be able to reach the valve and pull the drain tube out the hole, but on all our other vehicles I can reach in from the side, pull the drain tube out and open the valve. My F-150 was the worst as it was an FX4 with a heavy duty skid plate that was a bear to hold and get bolts started again, hasn't been off in 8 years now.

    do you mind showing pictures?

did you drill a hole through the skid plate or just leave a host on long enough to pull around the side?

also which size for fumoto/valvomax fits?

On my truck (F-150 3.5 Ecoboost) I can easily reach the valve (Fumoto) from the side of the skidplate and I just leave a hose attached that I tuck up onto the skidplate when not in use, and pull down to hit my drain pan. I couldn't make a Fumoto work on my wife's Telluride, drain plug is sort of recessed, so that's when I found the ValvoMax. You'd need a little better access for the ValvoMax's as to drain you screw on the drain opening "valve" that has a hose attached.

I can snap a photo next oil change but that's not due till probably Aug on my truck and fall for the car.

As for which one to buy, just go to their respective websites and enter in your vehicle details, it will tell you which one to order. With the Fumoto, I would choose one with the nipple so you can easily attach a piece of clear tubing.

I did mention I had to cut a small 4" x 4" hole in our daughters Tiguan in order to be able to open/close the valve and get the hose pointed down into the drain pan. Really depends on where your drain plug sits in relation to your skid plate. Lots of pics on their websites or just google either one for images... on a 4 Runner
