Soo I'm getting married in August and me and the wife didn't wanna do some basic bitch island getaway. We wanted to see some stuff, soo I'm building the tundy up for a 2 week trip. Destination includes colorado, I'm from MASS so I'm asking you guys where should I go between? I have a RTT coming and a rack pack and would like to hit up state parks and camp. But I don't know where to begin searching for hot spots/roads to take/food to eat/views to see and things that will be forever imprinted into our memories. Any input and things to do/don't would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Cheers

Gonna be doing the same thing, congrats!! CO is full of great spots. Stay away from "campgrounds" and look for national forest access roads or BLM land where it's free to camp and generally waaaay better spots from my experiences. Stop in at a bar wherever you land and ask the local folks where some good spots are, that's where i've had the best luck!

Also, call the local park rangers, they're a great resource for spots and any closures etc., plus they'll be able to fill you in with any info you'd need including fire bans, bear canister regs. (a cooler locked in the truck works) and other rules

And remember the "pack it in, pack it out" rule. Gotta keep our lands majestic ;)

    Holy cow!! Where to start??

I think it’ll be a bit easier if I ask a couple questions:
    1. Are you looking to hike?
    2. Are you looking to spend a few nights out backpacking?
    3. Are you interested in decent off roading?
    4. Are you interested in difficult off roading?
    5. Do you wanna just drive and see the entire state?
    6. Are you looking for waterfalls?
    7. Looking for wildlife?
    8. Have you ever been here, and if so, where?
    9. Wanna do some whitewater?
    10. Ropes courses?
    11. High elevation climb/hiking?
    12. OR....do you just want a laid back brewery hopping adventure?
What does your lady want is probably the best question to ask?

Boy oh boy, all of it?!

She told me to find all the spots. We would love some hiking for sure! I wouldn't say like overnight hiking trips but def some with views. Waterfalls, absolute must, wildlife yes. Decent offroading would be cool nothing wild where I will need skids or sliders. Idk how built my truck will be, funds are tight from paying for the wedding (really want to order wheels and tires for this trip ugh) I just want some crazy scenery. I've never been white water rafting, but we would love to!! I'm Keen on some brewery tours, but we have some of the best brewery's in the US in mass soo drinking my trip away won't be on the top of my list

But I'm also coming out there with a yeti filled with treehouse beer and heady topper so if you like bomb/juicy IPA and I'm near you at any point of my trip Ill swap a 4 pack with ya!

I always wanted to camp in the ghetto neighborhoods of America...and film it. Just open the tent in the back of the truck in Compton or Chicago suburbs. Start a campfire on the curb and roast wieners.

Here's the way I'd do it.

Drive as FAST as you can to CO. Find dirt roads from Denver to Montrose/Ouray. Continue on dirt from Montrose to Moab. Hit Canyonlands, Arch's, etc while in Moab. Head south to Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods. Mosey east thru Durango, Pagosa Springs, Wolf Creek, etc until you you end up back on the east slope. Drive as FAST as you can back to MA because now you're your gonna be late.

Congratulations and best wishes to you and the Mrs.

This sounds like a great trip unless you’re looking to mosey and do some frolicking in the meadows. From MA that’s a shit ton of driving for a honeymoon

But......I’ll prolly do it sometime this year

Well my plan is to not go beyond Colorado. Thinking about going down to moab, but we also wanna hit TN on the way home for a day or two. But it would be amazing to be on dirt roads for a portion on CO! If anyone has destinations to hit type them on here!!! Where these waterfalls at!
