I’ve always wanted a nice tripod. After reading on ARFcom for what seemed like days, I gave up. There was so many mix this with that, and this with this....I said F it I’ll just keep shooting prone.

I just googled that, and it’s decently priced. What’s your take on the unit? It would mainly be used with a bolt .308 that’s 12 lbs or so.

    Nice shooting by the way!

    Thanks.
I have an Atlas bipod and shoot prune a lot with my AR's but wanted another option because I live on top of a hill and when there's groundhogs on the bottom side of the hill I have to keep walking around the yard to get a good shot. I am very impressed with the Bog pod I was going to change the head after reading a lot of guys changing the head on their tripods but I don't think there's any need for it after using it. Yesterday I shot two groundhogs at 220 and 230 yards standing up off my deck from the Bog pod. It holds my ARs very secure and is a very stable shooting platform. I'm actually thinking about buying a second one for my daughter to use.
The good thing is from the Bog pod you can shoot prone ,setting, or standing.

I built one for a guy when they were first coming out but he is still never shot it. I had a guy turn some custom board guides for it and I've got the board guide already just never built the gun yet waiting on the guy I built one for to tell me what he thought. I have seen a bunch of mixed reviews but I don't know if those guys are using cheap barrels. The one I built for the guy had a cut rifling Rock Creek barrel.

Awesome! Thanks for the info Bryan.
A lot of times hunting I sit cross legged, watching over large areas. There’s not always the perfect stump to setup on, and prone many of times leaves objects in the field of view.
I think I might try one out.

A friend of mine is a retired Army sniper and he uses a hog saddle on top of a manfrotto carbon fiber tripod with a quick adjust ball head. Certainly not cheap but it is rock solid. I had my AR clamped in it and was making shots out to 550 with no wobbles. He has an easily 15 lb gun that he uses it with as well.

Yep, common sub $1000 setup that I’m sure kicks ass!
The Manfrotto is like 4-5th in the PRS - I’m sure it’s amazing.

RRS (Really Right Stuff) is #1 and also in the $1000 price point. :(

I’m just not sure if I’ll use the unit as I would hope, and would rather drop $300.00 on a unit to test, with the option to upgrade, vs $1,000.00 that’ll I’ll never get back. LOL.
