I've found socket sets, a Home Depot sheetrock cart, and a Dewalt drill for starters. The drill was all busted up and I still have that damn cart taking
    up space in my garage.

We were driving back from Austin yesterday and saw a dude in a Camry getting ready to grab a brand new 12ft or so step ladder that was laying on the side of the highway. Not sure how he was going to get it in his Camry or if he had called for help. If my wife had been a little quicker picking out grapes, I may have become the newest member of the "roadside find" club...

$180 in cash blowing all over the road. I was around 8 years old and made my mom stop so I could grab it. She opened a savings account and added money to it for the next 8 years. She used that money to buy my first vehicle.

I once managed to get a 10 foot piece of downspout into my compact coupe. Is the Camry at least 2 feet longer and do the rear seats fold down? He may have been able to do it.

I was wondering about that - he looked like he was walking around the ladder and sizing it up. I'm sure if a buddy didn't show up, he probably drove off with his trunk lid up.

    • Small bolt cutters
    • 3/8" x 3" extension
    • 12" flat blade screwdriver
    • Cable lock for a bicycle
    • Visitor Parking Permit for my neighborhood
I found a few other items over the years but since they were duplicates of tools I already had I gave them away to friends.
A child's cell phone ~ several wallets and car keys. I turned these things in at the local Police Department.

So, I'm riding along on my motorcycle on a two lane backroad when I see what looks like a lipstick tube lying in the middle of the road. Just then a sheriff's vehicle passes me in the opposite direction ~ I may have been exceeding the speed limit by a few MPH. I stopped, turned around and picked up the shiny item from the middle of the road ~ the 3/8" extension.
Just then I see the sheriff's vehicle headed back towards me ~ he merely passes by.
That 3/8" extension may have saved me from a situation with the law enforcement individuals that day.

No, no tools. But a fun dialogue...

I was driving by as the guy was dragging it to the curb.

    Me: are you tossing this?!

Stranger: YES, because my dumbass wife backed her car into it and dented the bottom drawer

Me: wow that’s a shame. Thanks for helping me load it.

Years ago (not long after they first came out) found a PS2 sitting in it's box, in the middle of the road just after midnight (6 lane main road). Had the power cord, cables and controller. Someone was moving and dropped it... or really pissed off their GF lol.

Two months ago found a rake and a Shindaiwa gas weed eater in the road. Has a partly busted plastic cover but ran good.

Does a kayak that blew off the roof of my 4Runner on the interstate after a ratchet strap failed count?

I had been walking up and down the side of I-24 for 20 minutes looking for the dang thing. My wife finally spied it in some very tall grass under the trees in the median.

By the time she found it, it felt like “hey, free kayak!”

A while back I pulled over and picked up a Ridgid 3/4 emt bender out of a crosswalk.
Last week I passed two metal 5gal Eagle gas cans that I wanted to stop and grab but there was no where to stop safely, only about 4 ft on the left before the wall and three lanes of traffic to the right. You don't play in traffic on I85.

I found this all metal desk that makes for a perfect RC car project hub. I've since put casters on it so it's fully mobile and allows me to roll it around so I can still use the full garage bay. Score!!!

    Oh hell yeah it's heavy!!!!
It was definitely a basement clean out when they sold the house. I just happened to be driving by in my Tundra the day they put it out.
My guess would be they had the movers do it.
