No offense taken my friend. If the F350 is a diesel, OEM is about the only way to go.

X2 from batteries plus. It’s a Northstar with an extra year warranty. IMO, about as good of battery as money will buy.

RedTop here. $150 with Advance Auto discount. Super great deal for a great starting battery. 99.99% virgin lead is used in all Optima batteries.

AGM = Absorbent Glass Mat. There are two styles of AGM batteries: (1) cylindrical plate cells (Optima), and (2) conventional flat plate cells (Northstar and others). In an AGM battery, the plates are separated by glass mat saturated with acid. This provides a more efficient battery, and they are sealed. Any water consumed or generated by charging is recycled inside the sealed battery. They are maintenance free, vibration resistant, and they do not spill. AGM battery life will be 2X-3X that of conventional lead-acid batteries.

I replaced my OEM battery at 25 months with a Northstar. Northstar uses 99% pure lead in the plates rather than recycled lead.

John Lakeman, Thank-you for clarifying for me.. I appreciate that. I just never knew about them. Wished I had known about them early on with my F350.. But of course that would have been about $700 for the two batteries because yes it is a diesel. I'd still be running it if it wasn't for the rust from the salt and calcium chloride here in New England..

I've been using the same Optima Yellowtop as an auxiliary and Diehard Platinum as the starting battery since 2012.

Looking at what to get next time around. The Yellowtop is nearing the end.

I would jump on the next Northstar group buy. They have great reviews.

To paraphrase Bruce Springsteen..."Those batteries are going, and they ain't coming back".

Inexpensive batteries that were expected to last 5-6 years are no longer being manufactured. This is a consequence of the government nanny-state, consolidation of battery manufacturing into a few sources, and global economics. If you want to have a automotive battery you can depend on for longer than 3 years, your best bet will be a high quality, expensive AGM replacement. Jmho.

Yeah, I got my $$$ worth out of them for sure. Picked them up when the Diehard Platinum VS Optima debate was coming up every other forum thread.

I'm using a dual battery setup that splits the alternator charge. I started with a 50 watt solar panel, switched to a 100 shortly later and now I'm running 200 watts.

I had a red top optima that lasted 10 years
A Sears diehard platinum that’s lasted 7 years and still going
A basic duralast that lasted 7 years. Right now my Avalon has the die hard, tundras rocking a truestart and my corolla has a Toyota oem Panasonic battery I swapped the duralast with on my sisters totalled rav4.

Basically any battery will work long if you keep it charged.

    This thread jinxed me..

Called the time of death on the Yellowtop.

Advance is having a 25% off sale today so I decided to try an Autocraft AGM this time around.

I had the 8 year old Diehard Platinum tested while there. It's still in great shape and putting out 715CCA out of a rated 740.
