A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Tubi. Intense and sad. Won four of twelve Oscars - should have won more.

Marty (1955). Tubi. The low-budget, independently-produced hit-film that surprised the big film companies. Won four of eight Oscars.

Started "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" in Season 5. Pleasantly surprised, has some feeling that Mel Brooks was involved.

The Manchurian Candidate (1962). Tubi. Pretty good flick, and Frank Sinatra did a pretty good job.

Manhattan (1979). Tubi. Not as funny as Annie Hall, and Woody is virtually the same character. Not as funny either.

George Carlin: On Location at USC (1977). Fandango at Home. His first taped performance.

Cabaret (1972). Tubi. Great performances but found the storyline on the boring side. (Generally, I’m not a fan of musicals.) Won 8 of 10 Oscars.

Mean Streets (1973). Tubi. Some excellent performances but the storyline, I found longwinded and drawn out. I was only moved by the epileptic character and didn't really care what happened to anyone else. And the ending felt rushed and abrupt.

Got caught up on these yesterday:
    SEAL Team (7.08)
    Tulsa King (2.02)

This show is the reason why I think Rachel Brosnahan is going to make a great (if not perfect) Lois Lane. A lot of Lois' qualities are on display in this show, and Rachel nails it. Assuming, of course, we get a classic Lois in the upcoming Supes movie.

What’s Up Doc (1972). Tubi. Silly not-so-funny comedy. Car chase sequence at the end, I found to be its redeeming value.

Incendies (2010). Tubi. If you put aside an incredulous detail in the story line, this is an excellent film.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956). Roku.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Cinema Box.

Had to see the remake after watching the original version. Both are good but prefer the ‘78 version’s ending. To the ‘56 version’s credit, the director wanted a more somber ending but he was overruled by studio executives.

Raging Bull (1980). Max. Unimpressive story line but that is looking back. Good acting performances.

Dante’s Inferno (1911). Silent Movie Classics. Not really a film - more a series of short action scenes depicting various high points of the book. Has special effects and non sexual nudity.

Cabiria (1912). Fandango at Home. Pretty grand in scale to films of its time. Good story line makes a good foundation for a remake.

The Immigrant (1917). Max. Classic Chaplin but I didn't find it all that funny.

    A Dog’s Life (1918). Max. Another classic Chaplin, and a funny-cute one.

Singing in the Rain (1952). Max. Not being a fan of musicals, I enjoyed this one. Good acting and good story line sure helps it along. I felt Dennis O'Connor was the standout.

I just binged “Heels” on Netflix. I loved wrestling as a kid admittedly. But do yourself a favor even if you don’t like wrestling - watch this show. It’s excellent and has a chance since going to Netflix to be picked up for a third season

I really been digging this new show Universal Basic Guys on Fox. I think it's on Hulu too. If you enjoy adult comedy cartoons, this show had me dying laughing when I binged the first three episodes last weekend. New episode comes out Sunday night. I can't wait. The characters are great, the storylines so far have been great, and their Jersey accents also crack me up, as a Texan.

What do you think of season two so far?
I loved season 1. But 2 hasn't really hit me the same.

Papillon (1973). Tubi. Greatly, does not follow the book but has strong performances by Hoffman and McQueen.

    Annihilation (2018). Paramount+. An entertaining SciFi-Horror flick.

Safety Last! (1923). Max. Funny and amazing stunt climbing that building.

Joker: Folie a Deux. (2024). AMC theater, Poway. The Mrs and I agreed: disappointing story line and a bit boring at times, but great performances by all; we even enjoyed the musical element.

Casablanca. I'll fight anyone who doesn't think this is a great movie.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Not as good as 2, about as good as 1, better than For Life.

Saturday Night Fever (1977). Prime. A classic. I’m certainly the last adult over 50 on the block to watch it.

Empire Records (1995). Plex. Funny, good soundtrack.

The Night of the Hunter (1955). PlutoTV. Quasi-horror and very good watch.

Requiem for a Dream (2000). Tubi. That was quite intense; also, a very good watch. Interesting and unique filming techniques.

Night of the Living Dead (1968). Tubi. The film that launched the modern zombie films. Good watch.

Dawn of the Dead (1978). CinemaBox. The sequel by Romero
Dawn of the Dead (2004). Peacock. The remake by Snyder. I liked the remake better than the original but both should be required viewing for zombie fans.

Shaun of the Dead (2004). Peacock. Have seen bits and pieces; finally saw the film in its entirety- funny ending.

The Thing from Outer Space (1951). Tubi.
The Thing (1982). Peacock. Remake by Carpenter.
The monster is definitely better in the 82 version, but I lean towards the 51 version as a whole; it definitely has less plot holes. For example, what is an Antarctic base doing with a flame thrower?

Them! (1954). Tubi. The third film to have a Wilhelm scream, and there are several of them, although I only caught two of the four. Good watch.

The Tinkler (1959). Tubi. Excuse me while I go let out a scream to satisfy my tinkler. Fun watch.

Les Diaboliques (1955). Max, with subtitles. Very well done murder-horror film. The ending felt abrupt but good plot line and performances

Hawaii Five-O (1971). Paramount+. Completed S3. The plot lines and scripts are getting better. However, the tire-screeching side effects are getting annoying - tires screeching even on dirt roads.
    Notable guest appearances:
    E4 - Martin Sheen
    E12 - Anne Archer
    E14 - Joan van Ark
