In the truck I just listen to a 16GB USB on random, I don't want to know what the next song is going to be. Even with that, I have to rotate it out with many other USBs filled with different songs.

If I absolutely had to choose, I would say Van Halen I. Even after all these years, I still hear and learn things from it. The whole thing is a tour-de-force of sonic goodness and Eddie's incredible rhythmic skills. Unmatched to this day, imho.

I bought a giant USB for my truck then found out it's not compatible.

Trying to make do with the USBs I already had, I have one for rock (mostly listen to that one when the wife is with me to try to reduce the bitching), two for metal and a couple small ones with random stuff.

I've always been a 'head-banger". I like me some Slayer, especially their older stuff.

True. But I'd rather take my stereo out over having to listen to one album for the rest of my trucks life.

Sure, I agree, but that wasn't @Mr Badwrench question. I was merely responding to his question in the most strict terms.

Edit: and I stand by my answer. I can't think of a more significant recording in my 58 yr old lifetime that has had more impact generationally, let alone the sonic impact.

That's a toss up for me. I can't function without music but it has to be good music. I've been known to switch the radio in the car off if I've forgotten my iPod and all the stations are playing crap or ads but not for very long.

I honestly don't understand what's so difficult for the OP's question, though. He asked if one had to choose, what would it be?

For me it's a matter of not being able to pick a favorite. I don't have a favorite anything. And the idea of an endless loop of repetition kinda scares me... currently I drive more often in silence than I do with music. No joke.

I can relate. The truth is, I do, too. It is extremely rare that I listen to anything other than the wind and a humming engine. But...if I had to choose...VHI :D

I feel like a drone metal album would be good since it's already so repetitive anyway. So maybe something like Earth 2 Special Low Frequency Version. But the only CD player I still have is in my car and drone isn't the best for driving.

My brother says Slayer is really good for driving but I don't know any of their albums well enough to choose one.

I've got a 16GB USB thumb drive in my USB port.
It's got like 5K songs from so many genres, 1950s to the 2020s.

Much like you I don't wanna know what the next song is.

When I go for a drive, it's almost always daytime and I listen to conservative talk radio. Fav. shows are Michael Knowles and Denis Prager.

Near a big city I try to pick up whatever rock or heavy metal they have.

At this very moment listening to White Zombie's "Welcome to Planet Motherf**er." (Yep that's a song title).
