This thread is the reason i took the plunge. I think it was about 7 months ago, i went on Craigslist, bought a beat up weber kettle for $20 dollars. It makes perfect meat if I’m patient.

Go on youtube, watch some videos and start making the best food you’ve ever had. Slow cooked meat at home is better than anything you’re getting at a restaurant and waaay cheaper

I have a Weber Smoky Mountain smoker that I’ll offer up for free if it’d get someone started smoking. It’s far from new, but the price is right.

I upgraded to a propane smoker and the charcoal WSM is taking up garage space.

That is so true. I love cooking at home. I grill/smoke at least 5 days a week. The whole family loves it. The problem now is that we go to a restaurant and pay a good amount of money and the food is sometimes no better than I can make at home, but still cost 5 times as much.
We have a few favorite restaurants where I feel it is worth the occasional treat, but we only do that a few times a year.

Hmmm. Free smoker just to get others into it... This whole smoking/grilling thing is starting to sound more like a cult than a hobby....:monocle:

It was our 25th Anniversary yesterday. I asked my wife where she wanted to go eat and she said she preferred to eat at home "because it is better than a restaurant". We will be going away this weekend and will be getting our restaurant fill then.
Anyway, I grilled Tuna steaks and finished them on the smoker along with baked potatoes. I made a reduction of butter, garlic aioli, chives and capers.

I would take that over a restaurant any day. Not to mention there is something very relaxing about grilling and smoking while enjoying your favorite beverage on the patio while doing it.

Okay, I literally made one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. Wish I could take credit, but major props to Sam the Cooking Guy.

I smoked the steak for about 30 minutes at 200 degrees. Pulled off the carne, cranked the grill up to 550, then seared off the steaks. Heated up the tortillas on the grill.

Served on the tortillas with just a little of shredded queso chese and finely chopped sweet onion. Nothing else and would straight hurt your feelings. I highly urge anyone to try this Recipe.

Reversing searing some steaks. 2 prime NY strips, 1 prime sirloin.

I will let them go at 225 for about 30 minutes. Pull the steaks off and crank the grill up to about 600. Throw them back on for about 1:30 each side, pull off and start chowing down.

I am making some bake potatoes in the instant pot for the first time and will see how that turns out.....

Pulled them off, grill is heating up and will throw them back on in 7 to 10 minutes to seat and char and finish off!

Grilled burgers wreak havoc on my stomach for some reason. Before you ask, it’s only burgers, and only when they’re grilled. Doesn’t matter who cooks them or where.

One of my favorites. Little bit of sautéed onion and spicy mustard is my preferred way but will eat them any way prepared!

Don't have a pic of the finished product, but all I can say is "best steak I ever had". 44 oz prime Creekstone Wet Aged Tomahawk Ribeye. Damn thing was almost as big as my head!
