Going to a decent restaurant and having the waitress call appetizers "apps". Her: "Would you like some apps? Me: "No thank you. I left my phone in the truck but since you're here, we'd like some crab claws before our dinner."

Both my wife and the waitress gave me the stank-eye.

Dare I ask what kind of rates you're seeing? We're due for renewal next summer...

Got a 5 year fixed at 5.83%, which is a couple percent lower than I was (pessimistically) expecting.

We're trying to find a house cleaner to come in bi-weekly to help The Woman out. So far she's contacted 5 local small businessess that do this. Each one has set a date and time to come do a walk through and discuss a contract.

Every single one has been a no call, no show.

I don't get it. If you don't want the job, just say so.

One thing I learned a few years ago that has saved me a *TON* of time is the 'plus' hack. When registering your email for a website, you can add a + sign and some identifying word after the first part, to make it easy to identify who sent the emails.

For example, let's say my email is matt@matt.com, and I'm signing up for a cooking website called "Cooking". If I'm registering for them, I'd give them matt+cooking@matt.com.

If they send me an email, the servers ignore the +cooking part, and it just gets sent to matt@matt.com. BUT....reading the email will *SHOW* what email it was sent to...so I can easily say "ah, it's that dang website." If they suddenly start spamming the sh*t out of me, I can just block email sent to that email address, or only allow emails sent to matt@matt.com, etc. Makes things tons easier. :)

I was filling out an application for a financial transaction. One of the questions was "Paperless correspondence?" Two options... yes and no. I selected no because I wanted it mailed to me.

I selected my option and got an error "you must select yes"

I went with a different broker after that game.

    I was pissed.

Most lack critical thinking!! They can not make a decision on their own!! It’s a shame!! Then you get the ones that think they know it all and really they do not know much!:) one has to laugh!:) HA!

No problem. I know for a fact that Gmail and Microsoft (Outlook.com) support it; most others do, I'm sure.

When I finally figured it out...it was a game changer. Takes like an extra 3 seconds of thinking when you register for a website...but after that it's business as usual, except if some site gets hacked and/or you get spammed, you know the source of it. :)

I went one step further about 20 years ago. I registered my own domain with a service that allows unlimited aliases. So I set up a different alias for each different company. When I start getting spam, I know exactly which company shared my email address or was hacked, and all I have to do is delete that alias. It has helped tremendously!

Well yeah, it shouldn't, other than that the email 'should' show it was sent to whatever you edited it to. E.g., mine is something like matt+tundras@domain.com (not actual email but close enough), and when I changed my email, it sent me an email showing it was changed to that.

Yeah, I used to have that too...but given I pay like $69/year for Microsoft 365, and it supports that....close enough. If it weren't for that, yeah, I'd be doing the same thing. :)

What really annoys me is when listening to someone tell a story and they feel the need to repeat a point three times. It's as if I'm too dense to understand what they said the first time.

Watch the guys in the oil change department using the impact wrench ramming those lugs onto fine aluminum wheels, steel wheels, and what ever comes their way!!! This is why I ask them not to use an impact and to torque my wheels to 100 ft/lbs.
I feel sorry if someone ever gets a flat!!

At Boy Scout camp there was a tree right before the mess hall where everyone for decades put their gum before eating. Gave me the heebie jeebies every time. I legit had to ignore it and look the other way.

My Dad was the WORST about this after he got about 6 beers in him (which was generally around 8pm, evwry night). Fascinating part was how enthusiastic he was each time he repeated it, like this was THE greatest shit he'd ever shared with anyone. After a while you get real good at just tuning it out. :lalala:

I guess you wouldn't have cared to hang out with my friends in high school who would take the gum from under the study hall table and chew it. Then pass it around. Yes, we were an odd bunch.
